There are two things defining the resolution of a stencil: the resolution of the resource, and the resolution of the texture set.

(This is kind of a false statement, because the texel density and other parameters will also influence the result, but let's not talk about that for the moment.)

 

In you situation, I think increasing the Texture set resolution to 2048 should already help.
