Export the "Automatic" cage mesh?

Automatic cage mesh is an amazing feature but I noticed there's always a few buggy quirks in the cage generation that unfortuantely make it unusable.
But if we could export out the cage mesh, then we could just make small manual adjustments.

Somewhat related, anyone know where the cage mesh is stored? Was hoping for a workaround for now.

Hello @JigglyW,

Thank you for your feedback.

On a personal level, I think you're right. I also use the Auto-Cage from time to time, but it's very rare that there are no quirks.

A solution to edit the cage would be awesome and exporting it would be one of the solution. But on another note would you like to be able to edit it straight inside Painter?

Ideally that'd be great to do it inside Painter as long as its robust enough to handle all cases of messy meshes (while still remaining simple and intuitive).

From personal testing, half of the errors were just a bug with "Match by names" not working on the cage mesh.
The other half were fixed by reducing the lowpoly's mesh density in specific areas.

Besides those, I'm pretty impressed by the results of the auto-cage. I'm rooting for this feature to work!
