Hi, are there any people here with experience in exporting Vectorworks to FBX or other extensions for Stager? And do you also have the problem that no lights are exported?

regards. The textures are going very well from Vectorworks to Stager.

Maybe .ies files importing in light objects in Stager would be very handy?

Regards

René

Hi René,

I have no experiences with Vectorworks, but for the info, Substance Stager unfortunately doesn't currently support the import of lights through .FBX formats, therefore I advise you to try importing your mesh in another software in order to check if the lights are in the file.

Best regards,

Hi Cyril,

After testing i came to the conclusion that there is one solution, using the lights that are present in the system of Stager is an option. The conversion of materials from Vectorworks via FBX to Stager is working great and rendering in Stager is so much more natural then in Vectorworks...

I'm not experienced with Vectorworks, but if it can export a .USD format (usd, usda, usdz) it will include lights and Stager should be able to import those. The environment stages on the Substance 3D assets site contain .USDA files that can be dropped into a Stager scene and will populate it with cameras, lights, and backplates.

The lights show up in the Environment properties panel after a .USDA import, not as individual objects, so you won't be able to manipulate them the way you're used to. Here's how the panel looks:

Thanks a lot. I'll check in Vectorworks if it supports .USD formats. Would be great.
Many thanks again!

Do let us know if that works out, and mark the answer correct if it does. That will help anyone else with a similar problem find the info.
