Issue with clip Duplication in Team projects

Hey yall!

So I have been a assistant editor on a long form documentary that has multple editors using Adobe Team projects.

However the issue we are having now is that we have a huge amount of  duplicate clips that have been created when importing sequences in.

Some background on the situation is that the editors were usally just copying and pasting the sequences to team projects from local projects. And the clip duplicates were made from that.

And when I imported most of the footage into the project, I did not have xmp checked writes checked on for import.

Recently we have tried a couple things to stop this,

1. We first tried to use the work flow were you import the local project  into team projects and just select the option to not allow any duplicates to be imported. But this did not work.

2. I then talked to suport and they told me to delete the duplicates in the team project and then just copy the footage on the timelines I wanted to bring back (in the local projects). After that, paste those clips into the new empty sequence the team project. So we would do this instead of copying the sequence.  However, this did not work as well even though I beleived I deleted like 90 percant of all the duplicates in the team project.

So now I'm just wondering what to do to fix the issue. My current thought is just to take most of the sequences we did this with and back them up in another project. And then just copy and pase the latest sequence back in. So while we still may have some duplicate material, it will not be as exstreme.

I was also wondering if there was a way to use the search bin to see what clips are connected to specfic sequenes. So kinda the inverse of the way you see it on the clips where it is the other way around. This would make it alot easier to delete duplicates.

Not sure if this would apply to your situation but have you tried:

Edit -> Consolidate Duplicates?

Have you tried (Edit > 'Remove Unused') to remove clips not used in a Sequence. Or you could enable the 'Video Usage' property under Metadata Display which would show a list of Sequences an asset is being used in.
