As anyone who has used AE in a team will probably know, working on a the same job together has been a nightmare for years. Team Projects looks like it might go some way to sorting this but why have we only got a cloud based version of it? It makes far more sense to be able to do this across a local network, no? Same concept but without having to rely on uploading to a cloud somewhere. This would be amazing for our workflow. Also, why do Team Projects operate using a live save but we don't get this with standard projects? Massively impractical and very laggy when saving on line but a live save to a local file makes far more sense.
Great concept but poor implementation.

Have you actually tried Team Projects? All edits are saved locally immediately and are then synced to the cloud so I am not sure I understand your comment about being laggy?

What type of question is that? Yes of course I have tried it hence why I know it is laggy and unusable. Have you tried it on a large project in a production environment? Or have you just tried it with a couple of solids and a null between you and the one other person who seems to be working on After Effects these days?

Hi chrisbrearley,
We have been using Team Project for a few weeks now, and I think to answer your question. From what I gathered things are done locally, you are not working over the cloud. So in a production environment you can have a shared server with all the assets that all the artists access, (so no assets on local drives) and use team projects. In Ae we have say 4 artists working on the same AE file but on different comps, and an editor working with PR using team projects placing everything together.
It has to do with mapping where the assets come form. You only use the cloud if you want to sync assets with someone remotely like a freelancer or something.
Hope this helps.
