Premiere Team project stuck on THE APPLICATION IS CURRENTLY SAVING YOUR VERSION

Enthusiast ,
Aug 10, 2023 Aug 10, 2023

I've been hitting publish all day on my premiere team project. but only in the past 20 mins I have hit "publish" and I was met with this pop up that says "the application is currently saving your version to team projects. this operation must be completed before publish can occur". and it shows a blue bar that has gone all the way to the right. and this window is just sitting here and wont progress. my internet connection is fine.  when i go to edit menu , team projects,  covert team project (to save a local copy), i get an almost identical pop up that doesnt go away. so how am i supposed to save if it wont save to the cloud or locally? so i go to media browser and Right-clicked on the Team Project and choose "Make New Team Project from Version..."but shortly thereafter i was met with a pop up dialogue that said synchronization failure. the team project could not be synchronized due to a network error. Please try to open the Team project again.

How am i supposed to save my premiere team project when it wont let me? please help,

premiere 23.5.0

build 56

mac os ventura 13.4.1

UPDATE: my coworker went in the other room to their desktop and hit update/publish. then I force quit out of premiere and was able to open the project with very minimal work lost. but if coworker wasnt around to save the day, how would i have saved my team project when premiere was being stubborn?

THIS IS THE CONCLUSION THAT THE EDITOR GAVE FOR WHY WE HAD THE PROBLEM: there were 3 computers. logger on the laptop, logged into editor number's 1 adobe account. then editor number 2 (me with my laptop logged into my own account). then Editor number 1 went to use that same adobe account as the logger on his desktop computer and it freaked out the premiere team project because it was the same user, same project, two separate computers and premiere couldnt distinguish the conflicts (even they were working out of separate sequences).

I am getting this error as well. I've had it a few times now. Extremely frustrating. I don't yet have any solution nor do I have someone to save the day.

Did anyone get to the bottom of this? I've got two of us editing a team project on Premiere 24.6.1 and after a week of working fine my team project will no longer save my version to Team Projects so any updates, publishing and saving are imppossible. Made a new project from my colleagues last published version and it has the same problem. Useless.

It might help to refresh the local project file (.tpr) which can be found in the 'Auto Save' folder whose path is specified under the 'Auto Save’ preference for Team Projects. Close Premiere and move the existing ‘[projectName].tpr’ file to a temp location. Restart Premiere and open the troublesome Team Project, the .tpr file will be re-created based on the cloud version.

Hi. I have been having the same problem - OFTEN - I works with teams projects a lot and they generally work well but this is a very serious problem which appears to be a bug - Adobe please can you speak to this !

My work around is every time I get the message saying I cant publish because it is saving I cancel - make a new offline project copy all the bins and sequences to the offline project which I can save. I then either create a new teams project or close the teams and re open (losing potentially hours of work in that project) but I can bring the sequences back in from the offline version (this can be very messy because premiere recreates all the rushes (WHY !!!!) but sometimes you have to do it.

If anyone has a better solution to this issue I would love to hear it.

Just ran into this issue. I'm using 25.2.1 and my partner's team project started crashing and wasn't responding, which then stopped my project from saving for some reason. I was trying to publish and it gave me that same pop-up. Their side started responding again so they published their work, but it didn't allow me to update, I got the same pop up. Saw someone here said to make a local project and copy everything. I did and was about to close out of my team project without saving before it randomly saved. I don't know how, but it was after 45 minutes, so maybe the PC needs time to save when something like this happens, idk.

Have you tried to refresh the local project file as mentioned in one of my previous replies?

Hey @Udo_Pawlik  - I've seen this approach of refreshing the local project file reccomneded a few times when I've been troubleshooting Team Project issues on this forum.

I was wondering if  there would be any benefit to users routinely refreshing this file when working on large/long term projects? (i.e once a week moving the file so PP or AE can recreate a fresh .tpr file) It feels like the .tpr file can be prone to causing issues, so though that may help...

@Matt_J_Clark I don't recommend refreshing the .tpr file routinely.
If you encounter longer sync times as your projects grows, we suggest using 'Linked Team Projects'.

In a nutshell - The bigger a project grows the longer it takes to scan project items for changes. Especially, if a project contains large and complex Sequences (including several backup copies of them).

'Linked Team Projects' lets you split a large Team project into smaller more manageable projects that only contain relevant sequences and media for current editing needs.

The only reason I didn't try that method was that the team project hadn't been saved. I believe it was stuck trying to save locally, so I was afraid to close out of the project if it wasn't saved. I made a separate project and was going to copy everything and then close without saving, but then it finally saved and went back to normal all of a sudden.

Happened to me today as well. Under File, pressed Saved All and then was able to publish the updates. Not sure if works all the time, but it did for me.
