I really hope that modern medicine, with knowing to isolate infected people... and someday a vaccine, means that the Coronavirus infection will not go unchecked as long as the "Spanish Flu" that lasted for 3 years after it started in January 1918

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu

HOWEVER... every year we have a "Flu season" with a new vaccine to lessen the effects of the OLD Flu virus as it mutates into a new strain every year

Which means that the NEW Covid-19 virus will, of course, be with us forever... since someone (several, I am sure) will be a non-symptomatic carrier of the virus, and there will be another round of infections around the world every year

For me, the immediate effect is that I have had to cancel the cruise I was going to take this summer... since the cruise line has BANNED anyone over 70 who does not have a Doctor's letter giving permission to travel

My Doctor said NO WAY since I am over 70 and a type 2 diabetic... which puts me at risk of serious consequences if I am exposed to Covid-19

I'm not going to get any younger, and there is no cure for diabetes, so I will never go on another cruise... since my Doctor will never write a permission letter

Right now my wife and I are self isolating to stay healthy... we're not sure what we'll do when we need to go grocery shopping again... this is a very uncertain situation

With all the talk about the "new" virus, think about the "old" flu virus that hits every year
(WHO) estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year
https://www.health.com/condition/cold-flu-sinus/how-many-people-die-of-the-flu-every-year

Main flu/virus preventive is hand hygiene... The WHO stance regarding surgical masks being worn by the general public is that only those who are already sick with a respiratory illness should wear them. (to contain the virus in case of a cough)

I re-discovered the band Genesis during isolation obedience.

Not sure if you ever felt inclined to appreciate progressive rock.

I grew up with this music not knowing what some artists meant in their lyrics.

My main inclination toward this music was because of piano.  And Who would ever guess that rock bands back then would  have a lead keyboardist,  or vocalist lead singers with monstruous drumming abilities,  and classical and electric guitar players that would impregnate their sound in your head with  a bold neurosurgical precision,  leaving in their audiences with a visual experience of their songs in their heads.

I read you, and I feel you.

I would like to share this song from Genesis called "Supper's Ready".

Peter Gabriel was probably 19 years of age when he wrote this song with Phil Collins  and their other band members.

Even though it was released  in 1972, the fact that I've rediscovered this song during the pandemic, makes me wonder in awe how much it seems to describe the times that we are living  half a century later.

I read you, and I feel you.

So here it is:

I see that a lot of things are fading away quickly with the COVID new world order.

So, before we keep forgetting what young people were capable of creating
