Oo exciting and cool. Thanks for sharing! But why are there dark spots on the stars? I'm pretty sure those aren't black holes.

The early photos had black spot artifacts caused by dithering.  The telescope moved slightly between exposures.  The photos released today have no such artifacts.

Q: If the universe is 13.8 billion years old, how come our space telescopes can detect light from 30-40 billion light years away?

A: Spacetime is expanding.  Distant stars are traveling away from us.  Their light moves like an ant walking on the surface of an inflating balloon.

Wow!!!! Truly amazing. When I was 12 I wanted to be an astronaut and fly to Mars haha. I wrote a letter to NASA and they sent me a photo of the surface of Mars. I still absolutely love this stuff. Just mind-boggling. Here's a hypothetical lava planet I painted:

This is amazing!  Sit back and take a quick journey into deep, deep space.

For best experience, expand your desktop browser (F11) and view in Full Screen Mode (F).

Enjoy!
