My First Induction Cooktop

Community Expert ,
Jun 21, 2023 Jun 21, 2023

I took the plunge and bought a Duxtop portable induction cooktop from Amazon.  It arrived today.

I've got a magnet strapped to my wrist to test my old cookware.  My old stainless steel pots aren't having it.  But good news, my vintage cast iron boiled water in 1 minute.  Yeehaw!

It may take me a while to learn how to cook with induction. But so far so good.

Make sure you test the magnetism on the bottom of the pot/pan, not the side. I found some of my sides aren't magnetic but the bottom is. 🙂

Yes.  I tested the bottoms.  My carbon steel wok and cast iron pans all work great.

I'm loving how immediate the Duxtop is to temperature changes.  No more guesswork.

And it generates no ambient heat to speak of so my kitchen will remain cooler in the summer.
