Not Carrie Fisher! What's happening here. By god, enough already I say. She was a beautiful person and great writer and wonderful actress. Gee, I'm really sad.

Yeah.  And only 60 years old.

Her mother, Debbie Reynolds, is still a dynamo at 84.

And her father, Eddie Fisher, was 82 when he passed away in 2010.

This is a real shock.

Her mother is 84 and her father died of complications from hip surgery at 82... so she has (one would think) good genes

But... as I found when reading an article this morning, she abused her body with drugs... sad

Possible drug use aside, she just had a heart attack on board a plane and was unconscious for quite a while before they could land and get her medical help. That's really, really bad for anyone regardless of health otherwise.

It was a massive heart attack.  And airplanes have very poor pressurization.   It's not uncommon for people on long flights to throw embolisms.

But, yes, her heart was likely damaged somewhat by her past cocaine use. The fact that she's been sober for a while is good, but sometimes you can't undo past damage. And this, kids, is one of many reasons why you should avoid hard drugs.

I had a watch that had an air pressure sensor. When my flight would get up to cruising altitude, the watch would read somewhere around 6400 ft in the cabin. So the amount of oxygen you are getting is if you were in Colorado Springs for example.

I once worked for a guy who had a rare lung condition.   He traveled a lot, too.  After one 11 hour flight from Dublin to LA (Aer Lingus) he was so winded he could hardly walk off the plan.  He said that cruising altitude felt like being on Mt. Everest.

She has helped me for years to explain the functioning of the Digital certificate protection in PDF file (I'm a trainer).

==> If she had used a locked PDF instead of R2D2 to send a message to Obiwan, Darth Vader could not have intercepted it!

But fortunately the PDF had not been invented in the distant future, otherwise the story would not have existed…
