He must have never seen a cellphone/mobile phone either. They inherited the "touch-tone keypad" with the pound and asterisk keys included.

Side note: The  first touch-tone phones showed up in the 1970s Partridge Family TV series. I looked at my parent's black, Western-Electric leased rotary dial phone, and all I could think of was getting that cool phone someday!

I was up on a stepladder organizing a closet and dropped a VHS tape. I asked my kid to hand me the "movie" and she had no idea what I was referring to. What was really cute was when she picked up an old Nintendo cartridge and was trying to figure out how to turn it on.
