We had Nike missile silos located behind my high school until after I graduated.

In fact, there were multiple Nike missiles throughout California. Lots more missiles than bomb shelters.

i worked in the directory assistance so cal office for one summer and didn't remember that.  (i do remember it was a dream location for an adolescent male with all those women, though.)

Northern California had POP-CORN or 767-2676, no matter the local area code. In the days of wind-up watches, it  came in handy.  The  service was closed down in 2007, the year Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone.
