No cell phone towers in the ocean, but I may take my phone on an island stop and find wifi in a coffee shop to send a text
Otherwise... a vacation is to get away from computers and cell phones and do something else!

Graham I'd have settled for the dog.
I got one of these.
The marketing idea is brilliant as the batteries fit a range of Bosch products, so you buy one and you are hooked! (I have four of these batteries)
One of these for doing timelapse with my phone. I only wanted the clamp with tripod socket, but this was all they had, so I paid twice as much for something half of which I didn't want.
And one of these. I've spent a fortune on earbuds over the years (I listen to audiobooks). Before I switched to Bluetooth I used to catch the lead on things like door handles, so six months was a good lifespan. The BeatsX I had before these would not stay connected after only owning them for six months, and I think the battery gave out. (I bought them overseas, so wrote them off.) I was actually using my Bose 35II on-ear travel headphones for a couple of months, but it's a bit ridiculous wandering around with those on your head. The Jaybird buds are great, but the lead is too short which makes them pull when you turn your head — I've lubricated the lead with talc to help them slide, but now I am worried about losing them.
Great thread idea guys. Remember... (s)he who dies with the most toys wins.
So what did you all get.

Not for this year, but back when we were remodeling (gutting and rebuilding) where we live now, Home Depot had a sale on DeWalt 20v tools so I bought a set
If Bosch had been on sale when I needed tools, they would have also been a good choice... and I agree, several tools that use the same battery is a really good idea

"Talc" is one of those words that scares me, Trevor.
"Asbestos is also found underground, and veins of it can often be found in talc deposits, leading to a risk of cross-contamination, geologists say."
Here is one link. You can find many more. Cornstarch is a good alternative to talc. Please, please stop using talc, Trevor.

I wish I didn't know so much about this, but I do.

Goodness Jane. Now you say that, I can remember reading about Johnson & Johnson being in trouble over i. It might be you who put me onto it in the first place.

Mostly likely it was me. It's my mission now to tell people, especially those I care about — and that, of course, includes you, Trevor! The lede in the NYT article is about Johnson and Johnson and the 12,000 women who are suing them. The best option, though, is to not get sick with an incurable disease.

Not for Christmas, but today I'm having some friends here for my once a year brunch
John’s Fish Soup aka Bouillabaisse
Chop 2 Big onion & a "bunch" of celery
Add about 1 cup of chopped up Sun Dried Tomato
Optional add 1-2 Tbl of Beef flavoring for richness
- I use Better than Bouillon brand
Add some Costco Montreal Steak Seasoning
Add some Costco Rib Rub and Seasoning
Add some McCormick Cajun Seasoning
Add some Costco Fresh Ground Garlic
Cook for Awhile to lightly brown the vegetables
Add boxes of Pacific French Onion Soup (Winco)
Cook for Awhile until boiling
Add a can or two of Crab Meat (with juice)
Add 4-5 pounds of assorted Fish
- Salmon & white fish & scallops & shrimp
Cook for Awhile until boiling again
Serve (should be enough for 8-10 people w/seconds)
The way I do it, it makes about 2 gallons
