The New York Times is disbanding their 35 member sports dept.  The Los Angeles Times has gutted their sports section.  No scores, no game stories, no standings!  Just background fluff, during FIFA World Cup!!!  I'm disgusted. Cancelling my paper delivery.

Print newspapers have been declining for years due to all the people who go online for news

As sales go down so does advertising revenue, which means less money to pay people

Newspapers have never been profitable. Papers are owned by wealthy billionares like Patrick Soon-Shiong, Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, Bezos, Murdoch and others who can readily afford to pay staff if they want to.  These are editorial decisions pure & simple.

Same thing happened with our local paper. Or rather similar. It got downsized to the max. ☹️ This year "they" as in our paper is now being published in another city. That's really problem. If we get a big snowstorm in the winter months, its going to be delayed. Sure we have our online paper but like you we like our authentic original form in paper. Beside you can't line a bird cage with tablets and other devices. LOL 😛 So what we have now is a pathetic rag of a imitation local newspaper. Very light in the stories and heavy in ads. But still makes a perfect liner for birdcages when our family is done with it. 😁☹️
