after testing various builds I like 1709 and have disabled updates to keep my work laptop there for now

yes Microsoft updates is busted and has always been a catch 22 because computers don't think and just do what the program tells them too... in theory humans have the ability to think and so can decide what updates are needed

The first piece completely misses the crucial point: patching security holes. The fewer machines are vulnerable, the less chance of malware spreading uncontrollably. It's the principle of mass vaccination.

I've been running 1903 for over a month now. I frankly don't see what all these "problems" are. The only incident was that my NVidia Quadro driver needed an update post-1903. No issues whatsoever since.
