If you don't already have a spam filter, take a look at Mailwasher from https://www.firetrust.com/

I use it to screen all email, at my ISP, and mark those I don't want... to delete so they never download to my computer

the concept of spam has not gone away, but spam filters these days work pretty good.  You hardly get any spams in your gmail or yahoo inbox.  and for emails on your own domain, majority cpanels come with some option to turn on the spam filtering.
