What are you eating for Thanksgiving this year?  If you're in the US of A, that is!  I was inspired to post this after hearing that my good friend, Celeste, is bringing a flourless chocolate cake to the table - recipe here - https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/flourless-chocolate-cake-14478  Of course I'm going to try that.

I'm taking roasted veggies - carrotts, parsnips and potatoes to our friends' meal.  Always welcomed.

How about you?  Any good recipes out there?

My Turkey Soup

Butterball (or similar) Turkey for better stock

Cook turkey upside down in a baker bag

 - This keeps the white meat tender

 - Cook according to baker bag instructions

All broth into the stew pot (careful opening bag)

Pacific French Onion Soup in box instead of water

Remove meat for serving (leave some on bones)

Everything except the “gobble” into the stew pot

Boil 2-4 hours so the meat falls off the bones

Put in the ‘fridge over night

Skim the fat off the top the next day

Heat so it is liquid again, then de-bone

Add spices to taste (a bit of Italian & “whatever”)

Costco Sun Dried Tomato (SDT) (see Note 1)

Add 1-2 cups of Harvest Medley rice (Costco)

 - or your choice of wild or regular rice

Boil for about one-half hour to partly cook the rice

Add chopped carrots and cook about one-half hour

Add soft vegetables (celery, onion) for one-half hour

Depending on turkey size should be about 2 gallons

(1) SDT adds rich flavor AND the olive oil packing

So don’t use if you don’t want much oil flavor

I have a friend with a small hover helicopter... but it is battery operated so I don't think it will fly that far... and the payload is only about one ounce

We are very traditional in our house—turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, roasted cauliflower with lemon and pine nuts, roasted brussel sprouts with bacon, and pumpkin and pecan pie. 😋 But my (grown) kids are bringing friends and all the young people will make it fun and lively and I can't wait! 🦃 🥧

Celery Root Mashed Potatoes

Kick up the flavors with grated horseradish and dijon mustard.  Oh, so good.

We ordered a turkey dinner from my wife's athletic club, tonight, and tomorrow (Thanksgiving) we will have leftovers. No cooking here.

I've never had peacock but I imagine it's similar to wild pheasant or wild turkey.
