Since Canva isn't an Adobe program, I am not sure many people will answer to this one but for the typefaces I have that comes from AdobeFonts, all of them can be used in other programs that read the OS fonts folder, (for example MS WORD, Google forms and whatnot)  meaning that Adobe fonts are installed there, albeit subjected to being active on your system (synced).
Now maybe Canva works differently, For example on the Adobe equivalent (Adobe Express) adding fonts from your OS as opposite to those synced requires a further step than just choosing the font from the list.

Check if Canva only works with the fonts synced with it, or if you could load fonts actively installed on your computer.
You should check on the program own help files and see the steps for adding them.
