I was wondering if you can use adobe fonts outside of any adobe related apps (Even naming a desktop icon, using Skype etc...)

Yes, there is no restriction against such use of Adobe fonts. You may also embed the fonts in PDF, EPS, PostScript, and ePUB files. You cannot redistribute the font files themselves.
