I am simply trying to select all of the pixels that are white. To select pixels, you will need to use Photoshop. In Illustrator, select->same->fill color will only choose vector-path fills.

The first idea that comes to mind is to set that table up in a stand-alone InDesign document. You can then keep it updated there, and place the InDesign document with the table into all the other documents that need to have it.

Make sure that Print Blank Pages is checked in your print dialog box. If it is still giving you trouble after that, add a text frame on each blank page with a letter or two in white text, just so that InDesign will read content as being on those pages.

I finally figured out that several of my columns started with a "#". For InDesign Data Merge the "#" symbol tells InDesign that the data field is meant to be output as a QR code.

Check your paragraph settings - it's acting like Align to Baseline Grid is selected. (lower right on the Paragraph panel) Here is a paragraph with the exact same settings - one on and one off the document page.

Here is an example of Character Styles vs Paragraph Styles I took your mis-applied character styles off, and used Paragraph Styles in their place. This way all the paragraph spacing holds. The use for a character style is to change just some attributes of a small part of a paragraph. It this case, the character style RED carries only the character color. It could be applied to any text styled with a paragraph style, and only the color would change.

I think you issue is coming from the fact that you are using Character Styles where you should be using Paragraph Styles. Character styles are meant for changing a word or two within a paragraph. All of the spacing attributes you are looking for are part of a Paragraph style, but are not carried by Character Styles.

This is a great script - it also allows you to store column widths in a table style, and apply them to any table of that style. It's an easy way to make uniform tables.

When the images are missing (as shown in your screen shot), the InDesign does not have the full-resolution file to refer to, so it cannot render a high-quality preview. Once you find and re-link the images to the document, your previews will better-reflect the actual resolution of the images.

Please explain what you are seeing here that is wrong. The white area is 7" x 9" with half-inch margins and quarter-inch bleeds. Can you add a screen shot of what the grid is doing?

I realize I could create an image for each of the border colors and specify the path in the Data Merge, but I'd really rather avoid that route. It makes the spreadsheet pretty clunky. You can avoid having to put full paths in the spreadsheet if you put the images in the same folder as the data file. In that case, the field only needs to contain the name of the image file.

Also, why would Adobe install a function that is "NEVER" to be used? The function exists to use for small bits of text when certain types of graphic effects or letterform manipulation are needed. It was never meant to be used on full documents, and doing so nukes a lot of text- and text-box based effects. When a printer insists upon receiving outlined text, there is a preflight tool in Acrobat that can acomplish this without damaging the text effects.

If each comment contains only one paragraph, you could set up your two styles as Next Style to each other. Then select all the text and choose Apply [stylename] then Next Style. This will cycle the styles down through all of the text.

Instead of Select All, make a copy of the outer stroke only, and use it for your clipping path. The clipped pattern can then sit below your black outlined art.

What I would do copy just the outermost stroke, and use Paste in Back to put it directly under the main drawing. Place the camouflage pattern under that path. Select the outline path and the camo pattern, and use Object > Clipping Path > Make to trim the camo to the skull shape. The full drawing with the black lines will be above, so you will get the effect you are going for.

You could do this by inserting a Flush Space in each place where the underscore should go, and styling it with a character style to add the dots. A GREP find and replace can find all the tabs next to brackets and replace them with the properly styled Flush Space Changing the text on the lines retains your desired result
