I'm confused because I thought I used to be able to do this with Photoshop, but I must be doing something wrong... I have an image with white text over a transparent background. You can sort of see here... When I save to PDF, the white text gets flattened into a white background as if I'm saving a jpg. I've tried saving with the following settings: Upon opening it in Adobe Acrobat, I don't see any evidence of transparency: Is this normal? I can't recall how transparency should show up in Acrobat, but the printer also said that the transparency was lost when I sent them my file. I tried to open it in Illustrator, and got this dialog box: But once it opened, I could see that it was showing up if I dragged the art to the artboard. I'm using PS 24.4 version on a 2019 macbook. I've tried doing this with the latest version of "save as" as well as the "enable legacy save as" option you can set in the preferences. Both seem to produce the same effect. When I sent this pdf file to the printer, they told me that they couldn't access the white text and that it had been flattened into the background. I'm confused...

I am pretty clueless when it comes to all of these listed things, which is why I really need some help. I have about 25 GB of hard disk space available on my computer at any given time, but when I open up Photoshop, it seems to eat up 20 GB of "space" (I'm not even sure if I'm using the right word here) and then everything is crashing and I have to attempt to quit PS to get my computer to calm down again. I read somewhere that some people set up a separate scratch disk just for photoshop because this is a common occurance, but I have no idea what a scratch disk is or how to set it up or even if this is the right solution for my problem. So... looking for some resources here, if anyone can help. Thanks!

Ah, yes, this mostly works. But I think I will put in a feature request because although this mostly does the trick, the entire button does get a little messed up in the rescaling process and you have to go in and fix things a bit. Sometimes you just make something too small or too big and you simply want to resize the whole thing and not lose your formatting, ya know?

Hmm, that's interesting. I will try that. However, if you see the video I posted in my last post, I created a new button and have not made it a component. I just made it a group. When I try to resize, I have the same issues. Is this because it needs to be a component to be resized properly or something?

I would like to make the whole group smaller, as you can resize in photoshop or illustrator. Whether I have responsive resize on or off doesn't seem to help with this. Here is a screen recording that I took. I'm just trying to make this button smaller, but when I resize, the whole thing gets scrambled. I tried toggling the button, but no change.

I must be missing something obvious here because this seems strangely hard to achieve what I want... I'm really new to XD, but have many years of PS, AI & ID experience. I created a group, then a component in XD. It's attached here. I made these components a little too large on the page, and I want to them all to be smaller. So, I select the component or components and try to resize. But when resizing, it seems to be using responsive resize and I end up with a jumbled mess (attached) instead of the entire component or group just getting resized as it does in Photoshop, for instance. What am I doing wrong? How do I turn off responsive resize and resize as I'd like to?

Hey, that's a good idea, @pixxxelschubser! I created a 2-page version packaged file, so you can mess with it yourself. Here's again an example of what I don't want: And an example of how I want the file to look in the end: And to respond to you comment about avoiding unnecessary lines.... The reasons some of these empty product code lines are in there is because some of the herbs have 3 products, so there are 3 columns in my spreadsheet to account for this. But some have 1 or 2 products, which leaves empty product lines in some of the herbs listed. I couldn't figure out any other way to enter the data other than this way... @Laubender - I tried the 2 codes that you sent and they did find matches in the file, but they only matched to 1 line of emptiness. What I need is to replace all 5 lines at once with 1 blank line. I'm sorry, but I don't have the words to correctly express myself. I'm not sure how to name a blank line... I tried adding your codes twice in a row, but that didn't find a match. The characters that are making up those 5 lines of blank space are complex and I can't figure out what they are made up of... Going through and manually deleting all of them will take a really long time 😞

Ok, I managed to get rid of the empty product code lines with lots of trial and error and frustration... But now I'm left with a bunch of empty lines that I can't get rid of easily. They look like paragraph symbols, so I've tried using 'end of paragraph' or 'standard carraige return' but I can't get anything to work... I just want to get these 5 empty lines condensed down into one empty line. Does that make sense? It seems this shouldn't be so hard...

Hello ~ The file was created in 2019. Hmm, yes, I believe they are type 1 fonts. I have been seeing a notice on InDesign that T1 fonts will be discontinued in 2023, so I thought I still had some time in PS. Oh well...

I have a long catalog document that I've done a complicated data merge with. I have some blank entries that I'd like to find and replace to get rid of quickly. However, I'm finding that I can't figure out how to use find and replace to get rid of these items. I'm trying to get rid of the empty Product Code lines in the attached image. I've tried a bunch of things, but can't seem to get Indesign to recognise anything but "product code" which isn't helpful. In the image I sent, it looks like I could type, "Product Code: (end of paragraph symbol), (standard carraige return), (tab), (end of paragraph), Product Code:, (end of paragraph), (end of paragraph)." I don't remember what the little codes are that indesign uses for these. I've just been selecting these options in the "@" drop-down menu. I've tried various combinations of these, but nothing works. Maybe I just don't know what these symbols mean? Help? 🥺

I can't figure out what's going wrong with my fonts. I have an old file that I'm trying to update, in which I used HoeflerTitling HTF LtRoman and HoeflerText Black SmallCaps. I have activated these fonts in Connect Fonts (formerly known as Suitcase Fusion). They appear to be activated. But when I search PS for the fonts, they are not there. I've tried restarting and that didn't work. The fonts are active and working in InDesign, but refuse to show themselves in Photoshop. I don't know what is causing this behavior, but it's terribly frustrating. I hope someone can shed some light on what is going on! Thanks!

Hey there, I'm creating a product catalog with an inline anchored image next to each product to delineate what the product code is. I'm new to data merge, so I'm struggling a little with getting the data to come in correctly. I want a continuously flowing text box with inline anchored images. I've managed to get all of the text to flow through one entire text box by using the "inline data merge" script (found here). I've followed instructions in this very helpful article as to how to add images. I followed the instuctions on how to add the path to my images, but noticed that indesign was copying the paths incorrectly. The paths that Indesign copied (using copy info > copy platform style path to the images I'd like to place) were showing duplicate paths. So, I tried to copy from the finder. When I copied straight from the finder, I got this file path: /Users/sarahgirl/Dropbox/New Backups/Current Clients/Heron Botanicals/2022 Catalog/Links/Product Codes/A.ai I tried this version as well as one adding "Macintosh HD/" to the front of the path. None of these paths seem to work. When I run the inline merge the images are blank and are not showing up in the links panel. Indesign knows that the image block I've created is linked to the "price code" source of my csv document, but nothing happens when I import... I think I've set up the file and data merge correctly, but the path may be wrong... I think? I'm not really sure what is going on here, but I'd love some help if anyone has more experience with this sorta thing than I do. Thanks so much!

Hi! Thanks for your response! I very much appreciate it! No, it doesn't happen every time. In fact, this time, it was fine for a few days. But I went into an open file in Illustrator this morning and it was doing the flashy thing again. If I had to guess, I'd say it does this thing about once a week, but not every day. Apps running in the bg: Chrome, Mac Calendar, Evernote, Spotify, InDesign, Photoshop, Paymo Widget, TimeOut, Messenger, Suitcase Fusion Command-E just fixed the flashing!!

It can be reproduced once it starts doing it. It doesn't stop until I close the program. But it's not always flashing. I attached my color settings screenshot. I will try the key command you sent me the next time it starts doing the flashing again. Thanks!

Thanks for looking into this. What's interesting is that I just bought a new computer and new external monitor and I'm still getting the flashing screen on my new mac / monitor as well. I'll answer some of your questions, but since I have a brand new 2022 Mac Studio and a new SAMSUNG U28E590D 28-Inch 4k UHD LED-Lit Monitor, I'm guessing perhaps you don't need the specs on my computer anymore? Just let me know if you still do and I'll send next. It happens randomly on various files. I'm adding a screen recording here. Using Illustrator 26.2.1 Not sure how to look up the color profile settings? Closing PS didn't resolve the issue.

I've been looking around the internet trying to figure out if this can be done or not. I'm finding mixed reviews. Some people claim that you can just place an animated gif into an Indesign document and export as an interactive pdf and it just works. And others seem to say that pdfs don't actually support that sort of function. I have tried placing some animated gifs I've created and they export as static images. Does anyone know what the deal is? Maybe I'm seeing old information... What's the latest functionality with Indesign and pdf viewers these days in regards to this?

This flashing thing happens occasionally (video attached). I can quit and restart and it usually fixes the problem, but it keeps coming back... Using up to date Mac OS system software with the most up to date version of Illustrator. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Whenever I zoom in on Illustrator, the display starts doing crazy things, as seen in this attached video. I've tried restarting my computer and the program, but there's no change. Illustrator's up to date. I have the latest upgrade on my system software too. Running a Macbook Pro, 2019. Any suggestions on how to get this to stop?

I've had a few weird display issues happen with Photoshop lately.
#1: When I open up an existing jpg and rotate it twice, the whole thing turns black and I can't see the jpg anymore
#2: When I open an existing psd document, instead of showing the actual file, it displays an earlier psd that I worked on in the past 24 hours or so that I previously closed.
#3: I cannot change the canvas size. Nothing happens when I enter new numbers.
What can I do to fix all of these problems?
I'm currently using the most up-to-date version of photoshop (23.1.1) on a macbook pro running OS Big Sur 11.6.2

Is there a way to quickly fill a vector shape in Fresco? Say I drew a star with the vector brush. It seems that using the paint bucket tool would fill that star with pixels rather than a vector fill, right? So, if I can't use the paintbrush tool, what would I use and how would I do it?
