Hi Spirit,
Note that Adobe does not normally charge fees when customers change or upgrade plans – but only if you cancel... Is there another/different plan which better suits your needs? If so, that might be something to consider instead of entirely canceling your subscription.

Technology is going to keep marching on – that's never going to change. And Adobe moves ahead the OS version requirements in order to take advantage of the latest available capabilities in their newest Creative Cloud releases.
But since the very beginning of Creative Cloud, Adobe has said they would not force customers to upgrade, and by implication, to have to buy new computers. To make good on this promise, subscribers need to be able to access prior releases for older systems (especially Macs) which cannot support the newest CC versions.
In recent years, Adobe has limited this access to only the current release and the one prior. This is called their "N-1" Policy. Now, today, this means that macOS Big Sur (version 11.0) or later is required, since it's the minimum for both CC 2024 and CC 2023. This rules out everybody who, for whatever reason, is running macOS 10.15 Catalina and earlier.
As others have commented above, some older Creative Cloud releases are still available for direct download, but the choice is limited and it is unclear if those links will be available indefinitely.
I think it's not enough to say that folks can keep their old systems and versions in a frozen, isolated bubble, without ever needing to reinstall their apps... "Things happen," components fail, products can need reinstalling. If paying customers do not have ready access to those prior CC releases for their otherwise-perfectly-adequate machines, they are out of luck.
And since Adobe generally does not make complete standalone installers available anymore for CC users (unless you ask), then people aren't aware they need to have in hand the installers that they can no longer get, until it's too late.
I think Adobe urgently needs to do something about this, lest they continue to lose paying customers who can no longer access a Creative Cloud version that will run on their systems. "N-1" should be expanded to a wider window of previous releases (as it used to be), while disavowing all official support on anything older than N-1 and simply asking that any subscribers who need support for those prior releases just come here to the Forums instead.
Adobe of course still has all those older installers, should they decide to make them available – so it's just a policy change, really. I sincerely hope they do something about this soon.

Unless it has changed recently, the last I heard was that CS4 can be reactivated for fresh installs on a different computer.

Thanks, @jane-e !
It gets better... Check out the April Fools' post from 2019 which promotes an (imaginary) new Photoshop feature dubbed “Content-Aware Content” where “you just draw a big box and it puts all your content in for you. Whatever you want, whatever you’re thinking of – it shows up automatically. Boom, a little clean-up and you’re done.”
It was a joke; nothing I ever thought we’d see… But here, now, that exact vision has (somehow) become a reality. Truth is stranger than fiction!

You bet, Trevor – I was glad to have discovered it! Lots of great tips in there and I learned something new too... Maybe Matt will even expand it further as we learn more on how to get the best results from the GenAI technology. Already, it's pretty amazing. Thanks for your kind words!

Thanks, Kevin. That's nothing new, unfortunately. Anything older than one version back hasn't been officially supported for a while now... But as you know, plenty of paying customers still have older Macs which work fine for most everything but can't be upgraded to the latest OS versions. Is Adobe OK with them just dropping their subscriptions because they can't run the newest CC apps? That's the alternative.
A better strategy in my view would be for Customer Care to furnish the older releases to customers who need them, with the caveat that they are unsupported, to use at their own discretion, and to come here to the Forums for any help they might need. Given the alternative of losing paid customers, there seems little downside or cost to that approach.

Readers have reported that Error Code 41 "Sorry, installation failed – Installer was unable to access a critical file/directory" a handful of times with CC 2019 over the past couple of years...
Here are the current suggestions to try in order to solve it, though for some reason, people have had varying success.
CC 2018 can be used as an alternative and doesn't seem to run into that error.

Indeed, it's been a while since customers have consistently been able to get CC 2020. It used to work with some repeated persistence and requesting a supervisor. Adobe should still give out older installers to paying customers who need them, because plenty of folks have older Mac systems which cannot upgrade their OS nor run the latest CC release.
As others have mentioned, the only option for High Sierra and previous macOS releases is to go with CC 2019, which fortunately is still available and is linked above. The alternative is that people cancel their subscriptions, and can't see why Adobe would want that.

Hi @Jeremy Hesketh,
Anyone with the link to a Library that you share can view the contents. Think of a Library like an online directory for uploading/sharing and collaborating. You can create as many as you want within your storage limits.
You can also manage Libraries using Adobe Bridge, the desktop media manager app which is free for everyone with no subcription required... This includes bulk uploading of multiple files to Libraries.
That should be a lot faster than one at a time, if you have many assets to upload. You should be able to use this approach to move your Synced Files to Libraries in Creative Cloud.

Yes, I certainly see that the Libraries section offers certain benefits, all of which are predicated on all users being CC users and being invited to view (or being shared) a file via the in-app share feature.
By @DTMN1977
Actually with Creative Cloud Libraries, you can collaborate (share files) with anyone whether they are a paid subscriber or not.
Many different file formats are supported.
Further, you don't have to share from within a CC app:
"You can share libraries with your team using the Creative Cloud website, the Creative Cloud desktop app, or any of your Creative Cloud desktop apps. Your team members need either a free or a paid Creative Cloud membership to use Creative Cloud Libraries. When you share, you can also give them either view or edit permission. For details on sharing, see Collaborate on libraries."

Using Creative Cloud Libraries is a good alternative for sharing assets online across different apps, users, or systems, and is widely supported throughout Creative Cloud...

Hi Lorraine, Adobe has announced its intent to acquire Figma, so that likely means they are not putting XD out there any longer. However, you should still be able to get a direct link / standalone installer for XD via either of the two options described here:

Hi Wobbly,
The last available release was Contribute CS5 (which was Contribute version 6.0) and it can still be downloaded here:
https://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs5-5-direct-download-links.html
It's old software though and won't install on macOS Catalina or newer, due to changes that Apple made to remove all 32-bit support. It may still install on Windows, possibly using Compatibility Mode. Being legacy software though, there are no guarantees on working 100% after installation.

Hi Jes,
It's possible you may have included premium features or content in your project. These are indicated when you use them in the app. Some examples would be the Advanced Audio tools, Auto Reframe, and others.
If so, then Rush would prompt you to upgrade to the premium plan when exporting your work. Videos created using Rush’s premium features or content require a paid plan in order to export.
If you just want to stick with the free Starter plan, then you'd need to take out whatever premium features or content you may have used, and then try the export again.

Hi Reginald,
Looking closer at the screenshots you posted, it appears that "IT-Direct deals" was not an actual authorized reseller of Adobe software. Per the Internet Archive, that site was taken down within a few months of your purchase... Reviews from that time period corroborate this:
https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/itdirectdeals.com#1
https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/itdirectdeals.com#2
https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/itdirectdeals.com#3
The $389 price you paid in 2013 was too low to be genuine anyway, and no legitimate vendor was/is allowed to sell digital downloads of CS6 (sending you a serial number), per the email you posted. This is why it's so important to only buy software from a company whose name is familiar and who you already trust, and avoid "deals" which sound too good to be true or come from untrusted sources.
So it seems Adobe was within their rights to flag the license as invalid, although this process does sometimes take some time or happens after a reactivation. You were probably lucky to be able to use it for as long as you did (illegally, as it turns out), and hopefully your system did not contract a virus or trojan from the counterfeit, which is all too common.
Sorry the news isn't better in this case, but Adobe does not appear to be in error here.

Hi @Rishabh_Tiwari,
Thank you for the clarification. Is there any way that Adobe can run a job which resolves the issue for all customers who may have it? That way everyone's plan would be fixed at once, rather than asking each user to individually contact Customer Support if/when they encounter the issue.
Many who have the problem would not even know or realize they need to make such contact; they could instead be under the impression that Adobe intentionally pulled the app pending the Figma acquisition, and/or just throw up their hands, and/or not have the time or patience.
The problem has been going on long enough that hopefully an engineer somewhere can figure out a way to run a command on your customer account database to take care of this for all users who could possibly encounter it.
Thanks again.
