@chrisell99 "I realise this is a duplicate report but that original topic is so long and convoluted now that it keeps getting marked as "resolved" when the issue still persists." I agree with you. I created a new post hoping that it would stand alone because of all the unnecessary responses here. but some one merged my new post with this. I was not happy, considering my new post is now 'lost' here.

@Ged_Traynor I had no way of knowing. I've not experienced this until the recent update and that's why I thought it was a re-occurrence of that bug. This has not happened to me in the previous versions and I would know, as it something I always do by double clicking a PSD file if PS is closed. Interesting that this has only happened to me in this v of PS. Something for the engineers to think about. Windows OS, latest build. I started a new thread since this one is cluttered, but it seems someone merged my new thread with this.

@Kevin Stohlmeyer "There are already extensive posts about this bug" With all due respect, the original issue in this post was resolved back in April/May 2022 with an update 23.3.1 and yes, of course there were extensive posts on it. However, this same bug has re-appeared in version 24.1 and needs attention. By posting a 'New Post' about a bug in PS v 24.1. I would have thought it would have been easier to catch the attention of someone who could relay the re-occurrence of this bug back to the appropriate Adobe staff. I started a new thread since this one is cluttered, but it seems someone merged my new thread with this and my account of this bug will surely get lost amongst this. We shall see.

I've noticed that when I double click on a PSD to open in Photoshop when the program is closed, Photoshop creates a text "gude-.log" file in that folder. The file is not created when I just go to the PSD file and right click to open in Photoshop. I've not seen this behaviour until updating to the latest PS version 24.1 I have Windows 10, the latest build. As usual, I've done all the trouble shooting, as one does when something does not go right with Photoshop. This is more of an annoyance than anything else. I know it's a bug as this issue had been reported in a previous version of PS at this link here: gude.log bug Admins/Mods, please don't merge this with the other conversation gude.log bug as that particular bug at the time, was fixed with an update 23.3.1. which was back in April/May 2022. There have since been recent posts (Dec 2022) which needs to be looked into by someone who can touch base with an Adobe Engineer. I believe this needs a fresh look into, so hopefully by creating a new bug report for Photoshop v 24.1 that this will generate a quicker response by an Adobe Employee. Thank you. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . @Kevin Stohlmeyer "If you do Shift+Delete with a regular selection tool (Not Object) it will bring up the Fill Menu." Yes, it does bring up the Fill Menu but without the Delete and Fill Selection option in PS v 24.1 People in this thread are using v 24.1 and are commenting that the option Delete and Fill Selection are missing from both sources, whether using the shortcut, Shift+Delete, or right clicking to access the Contextual Menu. We are waiting for news from @CShubert to get back to us with an answer on this bug. Until then users should revert back to v 24.0.1 My screen shots for both options showing Delete and Fill Selection missing.

@HooliganImages It is a bug in version 24.1. It doesn't matter what others say, we just have to wait until they develop a fix for it. Hopefully sooner than later.

@AaronIsDEAD I can confirm this happened to me after updating Photoshop to 24.1. Delete and Fill Selection feature has completely disappeared. When right-clicking the mouse to access the contextual menu, there is no Delete and Fill Selection. There is a post about this being a bug here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/p-24-1-where-has-delete-and-fill-context-menu-gone/idc-p/13434795#M71375 In the meantime, you can roll back to version 24.0.1 Hope this helps

The Delete and Fill Selection has disappeared from the dropdown menu in my Photoshop. I'm using the selection tool, then right click to select the Delete and Fill Selection option and it's no longer there. I was only using it in my last project. I love that tool, it works beautifully. I've updated PS just recently, so could this be a bug? @miroq I have the original Nik collection from Google also and have used it in all the different Photoshop versions. I find that if I placed the plug-ins in this directory - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC (Windows OS) they work. A while ago, Adobe had advertised that PS Plug-Ins should now be stored in: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC and that's where all my Plug-Ins are. I've never had any dramas with any plug-ins when I install new Photoshop versions So, try can copy your Google/Nik folder from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2023\Plug-ins\Nik Collection\ to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC and see if that makes a difference.

@CapeSusan What operating system do you have? I'm on Windows and my Common Files folder is here; C\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC If you are on Windows and can't see this folder then you need to show hidden files. You can do this following this. . . Open File Explorer from the taskbar. Select the View tab. Go to Options, and select the Change folder and search options. Select the View tab. In Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives. Select Ok. Hope this helps.

@Alec267109995v5h Have you had any luck with this problem? I'm still trying to find a solution. When I try to open a .jpg or .png file via the option open with another program, I select Photoshop .exe V23 and it will only open with my Photoshop V22 which I have still installed until I know there's no bugs in PS V22.

@D Fosse Yes, I can change it there, but I like to view my .jpg files in Photos App. I'd just rather have the option and right click on the .jpg file to open in PS 2023 instead of PS 2022. That's the weirdest part. I've never had a problem like this before. I've always had 2 PS versions run at the same time and could pick which version I wanted to open a .jpg file.

@davescm I have a similar problem. I can open my .psd files and choose Photoshop 2023 with a right click in Windows File Explorer but not with a .jpg file. I have to go into Open With and Choose another App and do find Photoshop 2023. I select the Photoshop.exe 2023 but the .jpg opens up in Photoshop 2022 (which I still have installed, until I know that Photoshop 2023 has no bugs.) I mean it's no big deal as I can drag the file in Photoshop 2023 but just curious why, when going to all the steps to get the .jpg file into PS 2023 it still opens up in PS 2022?

If @Ged_Traynor's solution doesn't work for you, then copy the Nik Collection folder from your old adobe version and paste it into C\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC I had the same problem as you, and I moved my Nik Collection to the above location 2 PS versions ago and not had a problem.

Hi Ranjisha Thanks for responding so quickly. I'm confused as I had updated Photoshop to 23.5.1 in September already, but CC app suddenly is saying that there is an update again for Photoshop but it's the same version as in September, which is my current version. I've uploaded 2 screen shots, one of my PS current version and one of CC app saying new update.
