Answer to your initial question is - a lot. I have 64GB of RAM of which I allow Photoshop to use 42GB ( I also use blender at the same time so do not give Photoshop the lot). I upscaled a photograph image to the size you mention (single layer - 8 bit - 200000 x 100000 pixels 55.9GB document size) and saved it as a PSB file (10.6GB file size on disk) to a normal (non SSD) spinning disk. On a freshly started Photoshop, it took 4 mins and 58 secs to load and be ready to use and the efficiency when open is 45% i.e. it is still going to be back and forth to the scratch disk. If you add layers it will get worse. Dave

Do you mean to slice up an image for HTML? If so use the slice tool - you will find it on the tool bar as one of the options if you click and hold down the crop tool Once sliced right click on the little square at the corner of each slice and choose Edit Slice Options. You can rename the slice and enter URL there. When finished you can use Save for Web - and in the options after pressing save, set the save format to HTML and images Dave

If you did not change the advanced download options when upgrading, to keep the old version, then you can install an older version from your CC desktop. Use Apps - Find additional apps - Previous version and choose which one to re-install Dave

Hi It is actually there without opening advanced options - but you need to scroll down (use the scroll bar on the right of the new Document dialogue) to see it. Not an example of good dialogue design ! Dave

Hi Steve You can do some colour correction with Levels (which makes far more sense in the linear space than it does in the gamma corrected spaces) and Hue and Saturation is still available. However , you are right in that not all 16 bit tools are available. I would suggest you submit a feature request to the forum below, saying which tools you would like to see in 32 bit (or even a new tool if you would like to see it developed separately). It is more likely to be seen by Adobe staff there. Photoshop Family Customer Community Dave

If you select your artboard in the layers panel - are you able to change it to transparent in the properties panel? If not what do you see in those options. Dave

Your camera will show "blinkies" and a histogram based on an internal conversion to an 8 bit jpeg preview using a preset in the camera. That does not mean that the pixels in the individual channels are blown totally and camera raw/lightroom will show it's histogram and clipping warnings based on the camera raw settings acting on the full (12 or 14 bit raw data). Use the exposure and White s slider to turn them completely white if you want them to clip Dave

Just one more thought to try before I have to leave it to someone else. The old legacy "New File" dialogue is still available in cc2017. You need to set it in Preferences - General . Have you tried it to see if that dialogue picks up your doc sizes? Dave

I find Auto often works - although it is balancing the various transformations and sometimes , dependant on the image, doesn't quite get them grid perfect. As an aside - you can reload older Photoshop versions from the CC desktop if you need them and have previously uninstalled them. Hope you get some progress Dave

Click on the Artboard in the layers panel Go to the properties panel - change background colour to transparent This was CC2015.5.1 (I don't have the original 2015 to check). Also works in CC2017. Dave

Ryan You say there was no crash report. Have you looked for the Windows report. Type Reliability into the windows search box, then click on View Reliability History. You will see some critical events marked with a red cross. Click on the one at the time of your crash . You will see Photoshop listed (and possibly other programs/services) Then double click on the application name (i.e. Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 not the action column) and you will open a crash report. I’ve never used Black Ink – but from your description the following may help. It works by using brushes with the clone stamp tool and locking the clone stamp tool so it is painting at exactly the same place on a new layer as it is picking up colour from an image layer. I’ve set up 3 layers – an image (of a fish) – a white fill – and an empty layer which I have labelled painted layer below I select the clone stamp tool and also open the Clone Source panel (Window – Clone Source) In the options bar at the top of your screen make sure these are set as below : Next I select the bottom layer (the background image) in the layers panel by clicking on it Then I Alt click with the Clone Stamp tool anywhere on the image. That sets the source. Now – this is the trick. Before doing anything else, I go to the Clone Source panel and click in each the Offset boxes and type in 0 to both. I do this even though they will already say 0 when I hover over the panel with my mouse. This will lock the tool. What this does is locks the clone stamp tool so, as I move it around, it paints in exactly the same place on the new layer as it picks up from on the background layer. I now switch , in the layers panel to my empty layer. I select a brush from the brush panel (not the brush tool) and start painting. This uses my background image as the source but applies it to the new layer as set with my selected brush (but all the time I am using the clone stamp tool which I clicked on at the start and remains on). I can change brushes from the brush panel (always using the clone stamp tool) and keep "painting". I hope that helps you towards your goal Dave

When you "transferred them to a white background" are they on a separate layer with transparency, are they on a separate layer with a mask or did you paste them into the white layer? Dave

Your steps: Open pic > option + cmd + R (Select and Mask) > W (Quick Selection Tool) > B (Brush Tool, to finish it off) > Output to: New Layer with Layer Mask (did not check Decontaminate Colors) > Add Mask To Selection > shift + cmd + I > select original pic next to mask > Filter > Blur Gallery > Tilt-Shift > crank blur to 100 px > no visible result. If by "next to mask" you mean on the same layer as the mask then you are blurring the part image that is masked. That step in bold should be : Select original layer in layer panel and turn on visibility or add a step at the end to turn off the layer mask Dave

Love the look and the ergonomics but would I buy one - no. What I love about desktop PCs is the expandability - the ability to add drives/memory , change the graphics card as things develop. This is more like a laptop - albeit a great one Now if they sold the screen and a card to drive it........................... Dave
