I had this maddening problem too. With paint brush, the eraser, healing tool, clone stamp, etc., the cursor shape would not be visible. I clicked Caps Lock on and off, the cursor shape sometimes shows, but as soon as I move the mouse – the cursor shape disappears. I went through the Photoshop preferences, as well as the system's Accesibility Preferences, all to no avail. I've been using Photoshop since version 2.0 and have used it nearly every day since. I have seen a thing or two. There is almost always a solution. I'm using a maxed out 2019 MacBook Pro connected to two external monitors. I use a wired keyboard and mouse, placed in front of a 32" monitor. All is hooked together using OWC docks. As I went to do a hard shut down and restart to see if, for some reason, this helps.... I noticed that Caps Lock was activated on my MacBook Pro's keyboard. Flipping Caps Lock on and off on my wired keyboard was never going to matter as long as the computer's built-in keyboard had Caps Lock activated. Doh! Why didn't I notice this earlier? For me, it solved the problem. I hope others find this is the solution. If not... the answer is out there somewhere. Maybe.

Now two years later I have to ask the community again: Is it possible in the opening page with all the recently opened files thumbnails, click on more than one file i.e. several files to open them simultaneously...?

I can't believe that this is almost 2 years since you made this post and it still holds true. I was going nuts till I found this thread and indeed I had my 1 password app open. Closing it resolved the issue. Thanks, you saved my day!

Hello, I'm only commenting this just in case you all made the same dumb mistake like me.... If your pen for whatever tablet you're using has a "Pen/Erase" button it might be switched to the "eraser" button. On screen it will show that you're still using a brush, even though the eraser is actually what's being used. Hope this helps.

hi to all users of scratch discs 🙂 this is an old one, but may i summarize the subject for 2021, as i use scratch discs on a daily base and my RAM is full early (16GB and on another mac 64GB in the moment). i also need a scratch disc for 4k video work with adobe premiere pro CC. this article is a good recommendation by adobe: (wasnt allowed to post html link:) "adobe > help > scratch disc" or " Set up scratch disks" i just dont see, what a network drive is. ethernet? or even an external thunderbolt raid? ("dont use network drives as scratch disc", they write). apart from that, adobe says, performance is better, if you DONT set your scratch disc.. - to the internal boot disc and work disc, where your huge photoshop files reside, - to an USB2.0 or USB3.0 external 2.5" disc (too slow) (so, i cannot use my fast internal macbookpro 1 TB SSD, if i want max. performance of my scratch disc) so, what is the best option for a scratch disc with maxium performance? in my opinion, a separate and internal SSD, which is dedicated for photoshop only, and always free. (no files on it). point. as my macbookpro laptop has no space for a second internal SSD, i only could opt for an external thunderbolt 3 SSD or HDD raid0, which is also permanently empty (no files on it). how large should a scratch disc be? depends on your files and work method, my files are up to 40GB per single .psb (in 16bit) and i use 24 history states: multiplied, the scratch disc should be 1-2 TB ? not sure... what do you think? thanks for your time.

Agree with all that there are, as always with Photoshop, many roads which can lead to the same destination. Another way is to experiment with texture overlays, as I've done below. The main thing to remember is ALWAYS keep one untouched original copy in case you make an irreversible mistake or change your mind.

Hi, Till the newer version, issue is remain same. psd formate will not preview. When searching old file we have to open every one to get required file (.psd) But in older version wen select the file there was small thumbnail preview was their. That is missing

I had this same issue and here is how I resolved it (Windows 10, works for almost any program that has this issue): go to the folder in which your bridge.exe is located and right click select properties select the compatability tab click "Change high DPI settings" check the box "override high DPI scaling behavior in the dropdown below, select "system (enhanced)" Next time you open the program it should be in a more normal size. Hope this helps someone!

Example - Removing undisired text from gif, with batch content-aware-fill Before edit. We have this adorable Husk gif but there's something dirty instagram thing down there... Now we are gonna delete those baka mitais for all frames. Save selection! Batch loading the selection and content-fill! Now the text is gone! All left is our cute Husky ! I had no problem converting a text layer to a Frame layer. However I have removed the frame tool from my tool bar and disabled its shortcut. I find the Frame tool create a very strange Layer and messes up the look of the layer palette its a two for. It is both a Layer Group as well as a smart Object layer has two names. It Also has a problem with scaling for Frame uses Place which to work more like Indesign and AI scale the object based the image files print resolution and the document current resolution. Look how my 8.2 MP Raw file with a 300 PPI resolution work flow setting is framed in a 700px by 500 px low resolution document. The good new is just a scaling of the Smart Object that is created correctly so I can scale the small scaling Place does up in size and have the good quality the smart object has. The Frame tool is not needed Photoshop never had a problem framing image.
