c.pfaffenbichler is guiding you in the right direction. I will try to give you technical explanation. Document resolution matters when saving and applying layer styles because when applying layer style Photoshop will automatically scale layer effects based on the difference in resolutions of the document from which is style saved and document in which style is applied. For example: when someone saves layer style from the document with 300ppi resolution with Pattern Overlay set to 100%, Photoshop will capture info about document resolution and scale percentage. If you apply same layer style in the document with 72 resolution then Photoshop will automatically scale Pattern Overlay to 24% (I believe without checking). Here is my recent blog post which is trying to explain things with more details and more screenshots https://www.designeasy.co/2018/06/when-things-go-wrong-with-layer-styles.html

Load Space Brushes.abr before playing action. Easiest way to load brushes is File > Open > navigate to Space Brushes.abr and double click on it. Same thing with Fairy Tale. Look for .abr file in package and load brushes before playing action.

Do you have some custom brush preset provided along with actions? Perhaps you are missing that part of the tutorial? It is only one of the possibilities, maybe action is creating and saving brush. However, it seems that brush preset is not available for some reason. In case that action is creating and saving brush preset, there isn't much ground to help you because it can be anywhere in action, also who can know what brush preset should be saved to work with that action? Only action developer.

One thing is missing: capture screenshot with Actions panel, action expanded and step at which action displayed message. Play action and when Photoshop display message: The command Select is not.... click Stop. Photoshop should expand action and highlight step in action. Capture screenshot of actions panel and layers panel visible. My guess is that some layer is missing which action is trying to select in the Layers panel but it can be and something else like channel in the Channels panel. Let's see a step in action, capture screenshot as explained above. Actions panel should look something like this:

I will let you play it Canvas Size 500px.atn - Google Drive Play action smaller side 500px. Increased canvas size will be white color (Background layer filled with white). You can add step to delete/hide Background layer if all your mages are RGB as it is expected. Action is recorded with thought that indexed color images may be present. In that case action will increase canvas size which will be filled with white.

You can also go to Edit > Toolbar then from the right side column (Extra Tools) click and drag any tool to the left column (Toolbar). Confirm on Done and dragged tool(s) will be available in the toolbar. Another option is to click on Restore Defaults button what will make all tools available in the Toolbar.

With the small effort, you can add the reminder that Smart Object is created from more than one layer, if that is important to you. Double click on letters (name of that layer) to rename the layer and add at the end letter L or type something like layered or layers. Another way to rename layer is to select it then go to Layer > Rename Layer... Another option is to right click and to assign some color to that layer.

Let me guess that you need to click on that layer to select it then you will be able to select blend mode. In the case when none of the layers, Background layer or locked layer is selected default None value in blending mode list is dimmed out and you cannot use drop-down list.

You do not need to merge layers, select all layers then convert them to Smart Object layer. Layers will be available if you edit the content of Smart Object layer.

It is not possible to explain what is really preventing action without seeing steps in the Actions panel or to play step by step in more complicated situations. From your description, it appears that step to select something is not possible what is followed by some other error because some of the previous steps is not executed. I cannot tell you what is the reason for this message without stopping action at that step with Layers panel visible what can solve mystery why something could not be selected. Play action and stop it at first error message what should expand step in the actions panel then capture a screenshot with Actions panel and Layers panel visible. Lastly, upload a screenshot so someone may be able to help you.

I will add my 2 cents to above advice. Create new blank layer before cloning, healing patching... Check Sample All Layers or Current and Below/All Layers in the Options bar. Options depend on tool chosen. In this way, you will patch/replace pixels on the separate layer what is a huge advantage, especially when experimenting.

You can change the resolution of the document is in Image > Image Size. Type size you can set from Options bar, for example. Click on Type layer (layer with text) to select it then look below menus. On the right side of TT you will see some number followed with pt, that's type size. Select and retype number or use the drop-down list to choose some of the pre-defined sizes.

I just re-read your posts. Your problem is probably in type size and resolution. It is not the same to set resolution to 72 and type size to 72 versus resolution 300 and type size to 72. If you can not find any info in help files then start with document 300 resolution and type size 72. If that looks wrong increase/decrease type size or use Scale Effects as already mentioned.

Let me guess what is a problem. You probably need to right click on Effects below type layer and to choose Scale Effects then to scale down (or up). Another way which may help to fix the problem is to increase text size. I am just guessing what can help you because you have mentioned scaling problem. Layer style is probably created with some type size (like 300pt) and you are applying a style to different type size. Creator of styles should provide that information somewhere in help files (if provided)

If I can understand you correctly then you have pixels on Smart Object layer which cannot be transformed. To be able to transform pixels you have created a blank new layer above it and you are trying to transform blank layer right? It won't work because there aren't actual pixels. Transforming pixels and cloning from some source are two different things. When transforming something there must be actual content on the selected layer to transform while when cloning or copying you must have something to copy to any layer which can be and a blank layer which is targeted/selected. In case that you have copied pixels from Smart Object layer to a new layer using Clone Stamp then select that layer, Ctrl + click on that layer thumbnail to ensure that you have selected actual content and then use transform command.

I would try to use the Rounded Rectangle tool to match the shape of the logo. The next step is to move shape layer below layer with logo and to clip logo to shape. You can also create a selection from the shape which is matching logo boundaries then to create layer mask using that selection.

One of the problems why you are getting always exactly the same image clipped is probably because you have recorded in first two steps (open steps) which exactly file and image to open and Photoshop is always opening same template and the same image. You can try to record action without a first open step, so keep template open in Photoshop. Record other steps with additional step to close document after copying image. Here are the steps which you should record (I have tested and I get batch to work): Open (image, not template. Template should be already open in Photoshop before running Batch) Set Selection Copy Close Paste Create clipping mask Save Delete current layer In the Batch dialog check Override Action Open commands. I will guess that you have checked and Override Action Save As Commands. Good luck! Update: there are a couple of assumptions done which may lead to action fail: step Copy which comes after Set Selection (Select All) will always work when only Background layer/single layer is present in the file, otherwise Copy Merged will do the job. Another assumption is that proper layer in the Layers panel is selected before running Batch (the layer above which you want to paste copied image). Another option that will work is that none of layers is selected but layer to which you want to clip copied and pasted image is on top of the layer's stack.

I am testing and on Win 10 with the latest version of Photoshop and everything works as expected and as you have described in the first sentence. I have saved test.psd and without any changes after saving the new file as test 2 .psd Photoshop is switching to that file, so I am working with test 2.psd. If you want in contrary to save the new file (x -copy) and to continue to work on existing (x.psd) then you can use Image > Duplicate to save duplicated file with new name and to close it what can be automated using action to quickly get the job done.

Here are my 2 cents: If your files with transparency do not have Background layer (just regular layer) then you can use If statement in action because Photoshop will recognize file without Background layer as layered file even if there is a single layer in the file. You must record at least 2 actions where one action will do what you want and second action will contain single if statement. You must point to that action in batch process. You can use If statement in this way: If current layer is Background Then Play Action: (name of the second action which will do what you want) Else Play Action: None or some other action Another way is to use If statement with Document Has Layers to play None and else to play some other action.

Can you expand Transform current layer step and post screenshot? I think that solution with already mentioned Image > Automate > Fit Image at the beginning of action is a good solution. After that step, record step to ensure that Canvas Size is 800x600px. Things to consider: do you want solid color for extra canvas size or it needs to be transparent? If you are ok with solid color then ensure that particular color is chosen in Canvas Size dialog. This will work for all images with Background layer. If you have images without Background layer things will start to be more complex and you will need to record another action and to add if statement in the action. Download this action and test it Fit product image into 800x600px.atn - Google Drive I have recorded open step at the beginning of action which you should exclude when using Image Processor Pro, for example. Action will add white extra canvas space, if you want a different color then you must change Canvas Size step. For anything else ask again on this page.
