It's working now, and yes transparency was on. Any idea about the naming convention? If left empty it adds prefix "0000s_0001_Layer Name"

You can automate task with if condition but you must have below text layers some other layer like pixel-based layer, for example (because there isn't condition: if layer is Type layer) which will stop if steps from playing action to change text and select the backward layer. The process is pretty much the same: record action to change text and action with single if step. Simply duplicate if step as many times as you want. Action with many if steps will always play action to change text and select backward layer untill it reaches pixel based layer. In that case you must ensure that your document has pixel based layer just below all text layers every time that you play action. Something that is not already mentioned: step to change text on current text layer is recording many things including font choice, size...

Hi JJMACK here is what I mean by special conditions. I don't know how to get this exact effect normally in photoshop so I wanted to figure this out instead. I have about 700 images that I want to 1) Apply dust n scratches 2) Apply pixelation and finally 3) use the above settings in export legacy. I have made an action which contains all 3 things, the first 2 steps works, the picture saves but when I check the saved picture I do not see the 2 channel color effect. I suppose it's because I am trying to save twice? One with export and one with image processor? I guess my issue is I don't know how to batch process legacy to web.

The trouble is Photoshop doesn't work the same as Illy and Indy. They retain the last used values, which makes sense. Photoshop always uses the default 100 px x 100 px value, which I think is ridiculous.

The image processor will open all Image files in a folder. You can not filter the file type to process. You may want to find Paul's Picture Processor script and try using it. It is like Image processor but has additional options like filtering the file type to process. There are many ways, depending on the effect you want. As well as those suggested above, you could try Filter >Render >Picture Frame Or make a shape, put your picture above it and Alt click on the border in the layers panel so that the picture clips to the shape Adding a stroke and bevel and a drop shadow to the shape in layer styles gives : So you have plenty of options Dave

You can use above suggestion with duplicated Smart Object layers via copy. Create template then you can record action to faster relace images.

Here are my free actions which will do the job of dividing image into equal 4, 16, 25 and 64 parts with each part or piece on its own layer https://www.designeasy.co/2014/02/split-image-free-photoshop-and.html To export each piece or layer as PSD, TIFF, JPEG, PNG... use File > Export > Layers to Files.

Unfortunately I don't have them in separate files. I found the images online and save them on my computer. I make the images the same size with a transparent background but that's all I can really do in order to automate what I'm trying to do. If I have to manually remove the middle portion then I will. I was hoping there might be an easier way. Thanks for your help!

Mike I hate to make this over complicated, as I suspect I would load the luminosity mask selection, turn on Quick Mask, Ctrl click the sky alpha channel and use Alt Backspace to fill with black or white (depending on how you like to have Quick Mask set) So to go back a step, you have run the Luminosity Mask ( I am using Sven Stork's Interactive LM) Drag any channel to the new channel icon to save it as an alpha channel Select the sky, and save it from the Select menu Then do what I said with Quick mask. But if things were complicated, then you could use Calculations. Create the two alpha channels as above. Select the LM alpha channel and run Image > Calculations Source 1 will default to the LM Channel you had selected Use the drop down in source 2 and select your Sky channel Set the blend mode to Multiply, or Darken. Even Merged will work in this case. Note that you have an option to Invert source 2 — you obviously need the sky to be black. OK that. Now click on the RGB channel to get your picture back and Ctrl click the new Alpha Channel to load the Luminosity mask minus the sky I have turned on Quick mask to make it clearer, but... ...it might work better if you copy the background layer Ctrl click the new Alpha Channel And add a layer mask Like I said above, it feels like a sledge hammer to crack nuts in your case, but it's a useful tool to have. It's used a lot with difficult selections by working the red, green and blue channels against each other.

It's always selecting the base. As I said I can reproduce the setting on your screen capture which is leading me to the conclusion that the problem might be related to the fact that the files I work with were created in CS6 (I updated to CC only last week). I'll report back after some testing. Thank you all for your contributions.

maryr99240413 wrote I know how to activate the move tool my problem is I am trying to put an image on a template but can't drag and drop it. when I click place linked it open in another tab so I am confused with getting in from that tab to the template If the template is from Adobe Stock, give us the number so we can look at it. Some templates have a unique way to replace a picture. Does it have instructions? To confirm: You have the template open in a tab When you try to drag and drop from Mac Finder or Windows File Explorer into the template, it doesn't work. What happens? (It should come in as a Smart Object.) Someone suggested double-clicking the image. That will open it in a new tab. You can then use the Arrange Windows command to tile the tabs side by side and drag one image into the other. It will come in as a layer. (Or keep them in tabs and use Trevor's method. It's tricky for a beginner sometimes. When you choose File > Place, it will come in as a Smart Object When you copy and then go to the template document, Paste is gray out. Can you paste to another program such as Word? If you choose File > New, can you paste there? We may need to see a screen shot or two, starting with the Layers panel. Make sure it is tall enough and wide enough to see all of the layers.

https://forums.adobe.com/people/Bojan+%C5%BDivkovi%C4%87 wrote If you can get Allow Tool Recording available then check it and you will be able to record step Use eyedropper. Correct to do that is a real hassle and not worth it IMO. Tool Recording is not well implemented seems to fail to record changes made to tools setting while using tools. And documents need to be the same size for actions to work correctly as they can. I find Tool recording is not very useful. I see few Actions that use it on the web. For me to get Allow tool recording I have to close Photoshop. Uninstall Adobe Plug-in Scriptlistener. Start Photoshop record the Action step with allow tool recording. Save the Action close Photoshop, reinstall Adobe Plug_in Scriptlistener. Start Photoshop and continue recording the action. Little script steps can really help Actions work better. Scripting is more powerful than hard recorded Photoshop Steps. Scripting requires you to program Photoshop. Would your Action work on different size documents if you needed to sample the bottom Right corner not top left 0x,0y. A script can use logic to get documents size and sample any corner easily

I will let you play it Canvas Size 500px.atn - Google Drive Play action smaller side 500px. Increased canvas size will be white color (Background layer filled with white). You can add step to delete/hide Background layer if all your mages are RGB as it is expected. Action is recorded with thought that indexed color images may be present. In that case action will increase canvas size which will be filled with white.
