Make sure you see View > Hide bouncing box and View > Hide edges that means they are both on and showing you what's selected if they say show click them to turn then on I'll have a guess Select the type Type > create outlines Switch to the Shape Builder tool with the objects still selected hover the mouse cursor over the hole in the a it will highlight a little Alt (Option ) click on the hole, and the ShapeBuilder will punch a hole through

https://rj-graffix.com/downloads/plugins/ This free plugin helps but the snapping system on illustrator isn't too smart eg making a rectangle sometimes you have overshoot one of the lines and drag it back or delete the extra with the ShapeBuilder + Alt or Option Isometric mover tool is good too, lets you drag the whole face at correct angle shows a nice guide line too Though you have to Edit >Copy and Edit> Paste in front , first if you want to move and copy, as the Alt key is for free movement

Another way using an opacity mask. Make a group of the text, shark and diver Edit > Copy Add a white filled rectangle above, no stroke Select group and white rectangle open Transparency panel Make Mask Use - Invert mask ticked , clip off, or whatever combination works. That will knock out white rectangle. Then above paste the group back in Edit > Paste in Front give that just a red outline no fill Edit > Paste in Back and change the fill colour so basically you have 3 layers top - outline middle - with removed rectangle bottom- fill

looks like a pattern brush where the outer corner is set to auto overlap You could try this way Object > Expand Appearance Open panel Window > Transform Change the mode from Normal to something else eg Multiply Window > Flatten Transparency In panel set slider to 100% vectors and OK Object > Clipping mask > Release and do again until the option greys out. Should get rid of the clipping mask, not sure if it would be simple enough to extrude in Cinema 4d

On Illustrator 2015 I cannot reproduce it; maybe I'm just not making a similar enough construction. Do you get the same problem on an older version - I know you shouldn't need to use one Don't really understand ''Expand Appearance turning those free-form gradients into raster-based objects'' I know that happens when Illustrator identifies complex regions , that it has to rasterize in order to preserve appearance, but I thought that was only after using flatten transparency,

Mapping is a specialist field , maybe better asking on a dedicated forum like Cartographersguild.com and use software where you hopefully get the contours etc on their own layers eg open source QGIS. Or you could try this site Contour Map Creator and use Save Contour Map as an SVG file and manipulate that file in Illustrator

it doesnt make sense to me either: 5 Must Know Pathfinder Tricks in Adobe Illustrator CC - YouTube Video - selected both, and in Pathfinder panel's flyout menu, make compound shape Result: When I do it, it just seems to create the Shape Mode - Unite, everything in centre circles colour. Jason, in comments isn't getting it either.. and the uploaders reply, doesn't help. Maybe it just works different on a Mac ? Probably best to go with simple Alt clicking in the Pathfinder panel shape modes instead.

Maybe a pixel art program, one where the colours blend together easily, a little like real wet paint Perhaps Photoshops brushes can do that, I'm not sure , or Artrage etc Using a pen rather than the mouse and a square headed brush, and changing the colour a little every stroke .

What is your exact problem and with which version of Illustrator, Adobe don't make the plug-in, Roland do. Adobe run a beta program, where developers can test their products in advance of new releases of Illustrator. hi Rowby The way Illustrator files are shared here is, uploading to a file sharing site and providing the link here. eg Dropbox, Google Drive, Adobe creative cloud, etc. It looks like a pixel image?, so maybe Illustrator isn't the best tool, as it will just see the whole rectangle,

Maybe your graphics card is struggling? Could try housekeeping on the computer to stop unessential things running, to free up resources, Update drivers and or switch View > Preview on CPU

bfingeroth Maybe you are mapping to the wrong face on Map Art, Surface select and the correct one. You would probably get a cleaner result without effects. Drawing a sphere Shift + Alt drag it to make a copy or two. Use the pen or line tool to form the sides Then select all and use the shapebuilder tool, to drag and make shapes. Next add a gradient fill, maybe one from the Swatches library menu ( bottom of panel) Gradients > Metals

You will certainly want Illustrator or similar for lots of things Eg, see Sew Heidi channel on Youtube Sew Heidi - YouTube But for creating patterns, and grading you may want a more specialist software but all are very expensive, made by Gerber, Lectra, and Optitex etc You could try free open source Valentina Vdeo tutorials available , eg Tutorial: Pattern Drafting with Valentina - YouTube

Go here Merch by Amazon and download the template Adobe Illustrator(1.2MB) Open the t -shirt file in Illustrator. Have the Layers panel open ( Windows >Layers) at the bottom of that Create new layer Next go File > Open Navigate to the illustrator file with your design and open it, Unlock any layers Edit > Select all on active artboard Edit > Copy Switch to the other illustrator file , the template tab, Making sure thenew layer you just made is selected in the layers panel Go Edit >Paste to combine the 2 files You probably don't have the font your designer used, like me, so illustrator has substituted another font. Anyway resize , change the background etc, as suggested here. Or you could start again and add something else . Then when you are happy In the layers panel turn off the visibility, the eye icon, off on all the other layers just leaving your art. to save File > Export > Export As tick Use Artboard Type png Export In the next Window Set resolution to 300 transparecy OK AS the template window, the artboard, was 15 x 18 inches that times by the resolution 300 = 4500 x 5400 pixels as required. Not sure how you did yours, maybe it's similar to this way The background made of shapes not strokes Add a front object same colour, select both Pathfinder > (Alt click) Exclude deselect and with Direct Selection Tool move bottom shape over top ones Guess it's just removing the colour where ever it overlaps. Making it look like it changes from black to white?

Might it be a screen rendering issue, does it improve after View > Preivew on CPU If so you could try to update graphic card drivers, or free up some memory on your coumputer
