Hi man, Seems to be the same as before - good for measuring length, and an angle reader which acts like a protractor. Draw a line by click and drag. Draw a second line from the second point created in the first line, holding control. Now you have two lines and one angle, both displayed on the Options bar at the top. There is some literature around if you need help. Never really use it that much, but sometimes an angle or length is necessary! Regards, Richard

Once "smoothing" is checked in the brush setting panel, you can then alter the smoothing options in the options panel for the brush. Thank you for response Jeff! That is the correct answer!

I have the latest version of Photoshop CC and when the brush is selected from the toolbox, the smoothing options are unavailable. Anyone know why? I am running Windows 10 and have an XP-Pen 22" Artist pro. Is this happening to you? I tried an old driver for the tablet and the smoothing option was also unavailable. Any ideas?

Hello, Thanks for the reply. I've seen some brushes that when you draw it forms a chain or a rope. What you made me think of was whether these were Ps brushes or not. Hope it's not a dream. Maybe it wasn't Photoshop. Anyone else here? Has anyone else seen brushes like this? R.

Hello, Given Ps, you can download a lot of brushes, but where are brushes that stamp out chains, ropes, castles, and footprints? I've seen them around but not from Adobe. Why doesn't Adobe have more variety like this? Am I not looking in the right place? R.

Hello Trevor, Thanks for your reply. I am seeing the non-tapered brush stroke in the brushes panel even after first using a pen and tablet. I don't think the second thought regarding what options I have checked is relevant. I am using Windows 10 64 bit pro and it's up to date. I am using Ps CC version 22.4.2, the latest update. I am using an XP-Pen Artist 22 pro with an up to date driver. I am not using any third party apps. I was wondering if the XP-Pen driver is the problem? Any thoughts? R.

I'm not sure I get you Leslie. In the "Brushes" panel (not "Brush panel"), I don't have any "thumbnail", I have "Brush Stroke" selected. It shows me all the basic brushes with either soft or hard but doesn't show tapering of brushes where pressure can be applied to the stroke showing either transparency, width, or some other aspect of the brush stroke. Where is the enabling of a thumbnail? I have the latest version of Ps CC. Regards, R.

Hope I can explain this correctly. The brush stroke in the said named panel doesn't always show the proper mark in the Brushes panel. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. In the preferences, it says my GPU is being used in advanced mode. So that shouldn't be a problem, should it? Does anyone know why the mark is a general stroke and not the specific mark for that brush?

Hello JJ, I'm using the latest version of Ps. I had an old computer that wouldn't run the latest Ps last year. I built a new one on Christmas Day and am pretty sure it was working with Intel Celeron 5900. It's not the fastest, but it's a current CPU. I was using an old version of Ps on my old computer after that change you mentioned. I guess they changed it again in a relatively new upgrade. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I guess I cold roll back to earlier versions of Ps and see if it works. As I said, you can't even get a decent GPU for a reasonable price now. Richard

I thought when I first built this computer the UHD Graphics 610 was working. I'm sure it was. Now Ps says it doesn't recognise the GPU. Anybody had this experience? Spending £500 on an RX 580 doesn't make much sense right now.

I am using Ps 22.3. When I use the hand tool (press the space bar in the brush tool) to move the image, the screen freaks out, flashing with weird movement and moves the image in the opposite way. To be honest, it's been a while since I've done much in Ps, but I don't think it's supposed to do that. I was using the symmetry option, but turned it off, and the strange behaviour continued. Anyone else get this weird movement in Ps?

Hello, I have a bit of a problem. When using the paint tool, the cusor, which normally is a "Normal Brush Tip" as set in preference, becomes a dot which is offset to the left. I was messing around in Windows trying to get a larger coloured mouse. I changed that back to a white mouse of normal size and I still got the dot instead of the proper tool tip it normally displays. Not sure who's program is at fault, Adobe, my tablet softtware (XP-Pen), or Microsoft Windows. I have the latest Ps upgrade running with Windows 10 up-to-date. Everything else is good. Any thoughts? That makes sense - Adobe's need for new features being the reason so many of us need an upgrade.
I would add that maybe they knew of this problem for us with old clunky machines, and could have given us a warning in advance. In my case I would have started saving for a newer machine earlier. It looks like a lot of you people should get selfish and have a good Christmas! HO HO HO!!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how many people/computers/subscriptions are affected by this upgrade?
It seems they hit against quite a few people because of the commonness of the mentioned processors.
I do have a problem here. I erased the older versions and now don't know how to get them back. I'm currently using 21.2.4 and it's not working properly (Rotate is completely inoperable). How do I get back the earlier versions? Anyone know? Especially 21.1.3 (Wasn't that the version everyone was reverting too?).

Hello, When I try to use the latest Ps version my graphics go funny. I have to resort to using 21.1.3 before my GPU seems utilized. I am using an AMD Radeon HD 6570 on an old Dell PC. Is there a list of graphic processors usable with Ps or has that been taken off the site? The GPU has 1 GB of memory (like Adobe seems deem sufficient). Do I need to get a new computer to use the latest Ps version? Frustrated, Richard

There is a temporary workaround for this problem. Load an image of a protractor onto a layer, making sure it is transparent. You can then move it with the transform controls found in the moVe tool or by pressing ctrl t. Once in the exact place, measure and mark a different layer where you want. Hide the protractor layer. You can make a ruler in the same manner which can be useful to get an exact line at the length you want as you draw them. Hopefully they'll fix Ps!

Hello, Sorry to write and then disappear. I was expecting to get an email notification from Adobe if their was a reply to my orignal post here. I see what you mean about Ps CC20 allowing you to measure an angle and then it all disappears. Not really useable in that state anyway. Glad to see you explored the bug and well done on reporting it. I was scratching my head at first as I couldn't find anyone else who had written about the bug. Not much to add about that really - you covered the problem in detail. Won't there be an update because of this? Quite a big thing to leave not working... Regards, Richard
