Hi, You should be able to see the Font you activate striaght away. Try closing Photoshop and then reopening it. Then check your Character Palette:

Your colour setting may have been changed to a more saturated profile. Check the files orginal colour setting by going: Edit> Assign Profile

The Selection Tool (Black arrow) does not allow you to move individual anchor points. It allows you to scale up and down, plus move and rotate a shape. The Direct Selection Tool Allows you to move individual Anchor points... I hope I am undertanding you correctly. Thanks, Sim
