The Beta version crash issue reported here was unrelated to the "Known Issue" crash that is the subject of this thread. Beta 24.3.0 Build 33 introduced an error that was fixed with Build 36.

Be sure to read the information on the bug and the cautions. In this bug, it could make your project file permanently unusable.
We don't know how this current bug behaves the same or differently than the one that was fixed.

You can now expand or collapse the Media location sections in Import Mode. The state of collapsed sections will be retained across Premiere sessions via application preferences. One valuable use case would be to favorite your most commonly used media locations, then collapse all other sections, leaving favorites expanded.

@Francis-Crossman Francis, while I am encouraged by your posted response, I would suggest this is an opportunity for Adobe: 1. to develop better communication around problems with documentation. (details) 2. to develop better communication around known issues and bugs. (details) (from the second link): Known Issues and bugs should be reported by Adobe to its users in a prominent, timely, clear, detailed, usable, and cross-referencable manner - one which helps them assess and decide about updates and selecting versions of Premiere Pro to work with, as well as helping them to think about workflow workarounds that Premiere Pro necessitates. These ongoing and evolving issues should be as accessible as any announcement of new features or fixed issues. QUESTION: Will Adobe make a commitment on this? R.

I am just switching from FCPx back to Premiere after ten years just to find out that almost nothing has changed. When you are used to the magnetic timeline this just feels so outdated.. There is seriously no way to ripple cut?? Or is this a mistake??

@Francis-Crossman That doesn't seem to be the case though, in the instance I've mentioned, it was a brand new sequence and therefore had no prior export settings - even so, I would expect Premiere to default to source in/out if there are in and out points set on the timeline. This is how it used to work in previous versions of Premiere and this 'improvement' is much much worse. Of course it's good practice to check before exporting, but the design of the export window makes the dropdown almost hidden and you shouldn't have to check to make sure the program is working correctly - or for that matter intuitively before exporting. If this change isn't a bug then Adobe is fundamentally killing productivity and my ability to export multiple sequences quickly. As a secondary point it's also incredibly painful that I now can't hit 'enter' to send to Media Encoder - even when that button is highlighted and all the logic of having ever used a computer points to that being the outcome when doing so. Please please please allow people to go back to doing things quickly and without having to manually click every time they undertake any operation, it's a real disincentive to using Adobe Premiere Pro right now and I just can't understand why such a poor choice has been made.

Synchronizing camera angles or video and audio via the audio signal has been a feature in Premiere Pro for a long time now. There are a few ways to do it. Here is the most basic way.
Put video and audio onto the timeline so they overlap
Select both video and audio
Right-click and choose "Synchronize"
In the dialog that pops up, choose "Audio"
You can also do the same thing while building multicam clips.
Synchronize clips

Late to this thread. I've been having the same issue... In settings --> transcription, under "automatic transcription" you can select "yes, separate speakers." This option seems to be turned off by default in the newest version of Permiere. You may have to check "automatic transcription" to un-gray the below area, but you can turn this automatic transcription option off afterwards if you'd like.

Can the Start Time option be added to sequence settings? It's only accessible via the drop-down list on the timeline and it doesn't make sense to have that option so hidden. Also, on the import page. When Create new sequence is selected, there should be an option to choose which preset to create the sequence from.

I consider templating part of my secret sauce. It is vital for consitency in terms of how a show looks, and it makes cutting new shows extremely easy. I template everthing - with the template having pre-imported all the base assets for every show, all the graphics, and a rough-out of the timeline. Once I have assets in the project folder, I do one sync with Watchtower - and they're all watch folders from then on as I build. I also have a template for a project folder - which is also copied each time. It includes empty ingest sheets, spots for various types of outputs, and a standard bin system. Each template is copied and renamed with the show number and the slug - and then once I'm working in the timeline, it's basically a game of knockout - where I can quickly define and delete elements I don't need - or make th something from the pre-imported assets. I also have templated sedquences - broadcast for instance requires me to output six channels of audio - so I make a subsequence of the show, or the promos or whatever - and drop them into the new six channel sequence etc. That sequence is where I do captions and final legalizing on audio etc. I've been using Premier this way for years - and I would have failed without developing this sytem. This gets pretty deep, but it's the way to go. I actually teach this. Below is the template's timeline without a show's project folder imported. Below that is my project folder system over on one of my aux drives.

That's just weird ... sorry, but I can't replicate that on either of my computers. On my laptop, I just created a couple new LUTs, one put in Technical for Basic tab, the other in Creative, named so they'd be well down each list. Accessed as per expectation ... they showed in the list, were applied on selecting, and I could drop the list down, pick another either built-in or one of my other LUTs. So I'm wondering what's gone bizarre on your system. I dunno, maybe trying the ol' Trash Preferences, that oft fixes weird stuff in Premiere.

If the project was opened and saved, then the unwanted change to the clips is saved into the project. Try opening an auto-save project (as recent as possible) that was never opened in Premiere Pro 23.4 in 23.5. Assuming the clips use the In to Out as expected, use Save As to promote the auto-save to being the current project file.

I have just foind this https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/known-issue-certain-custom-keyboard-shortcuts-are-reset-to-default-in-23-4/idi-p/13798088 Happy to redirect users there as this is now a Known Issue. I should add that if I'd been able to search in a more sensbile way other than guessing text strings on this forum, I'd have been able to find this before I'd bothered writing my own bug report. It could be a better system....

Eike,
You can work as you always did. To do that, just do not create source media transcripts. Use the "static transcript" option in the sequence view. Uncheck "Follow active monitor" and stay in Sequence view. In the 3 dots menu, pick "static transcript." The transcript, transcript tab options, and caption creation will be as before. You can work in the regular Captions and Graphics workspace or the new Text-based.
For the new text-based editing, you must set the language before you allow it to auto-transcribe. However, it will only transcribe audio track 1. There are workarounds for that, or upvote this feature request:

Hi @anthony_gc, Since this is not a bug, we are closing this case. it's more of a new behavior for an existing feature. We'll move this post from the Bug Reports forum to the Discussions forum so that others may benefit. Thanks for your post. Kevin

@rachelcenter We have a known issue in 23.4 that causes clips to get relinked incorrectly in precisely the way you describe, but it only happens when source transcription is present. It's possible you found another expression of this bug that does not require transcription, but I hope not. Can you please verify that no source clips have been transcribed? Do this by opening the text panel and setting it to the transcript tab. Then double click on source clips in the project panel to load them into the source monitor. If you see text in the transcript panel, you have transcripts generated. It's possible this got generated automatically in the background without you knowing. Maybe your collaborator did it? Can you try the beta and let me know if it helps? FYI, if you see the problem in 23.4 and save the project, the damage is done and cannot be fixed by going to the beta. Make sure you are opening a known good project file. So – if you have a properly linked project functioning as expected on your system, you can send that to your collaborator and have them open it in Beta (or vice versa). I hope this helps.
