@Trevor.Dennis HLBs is no more intrusive than SGs According to what measurement do you believe this is true :'D HLBs are tremendously distracting. Way more visible and way more frequent that smart guides, they flick on and off as you move your mouse around the screen. This is the first thing I disable now on new PS installs and overall not a great feature. I'm glad you can turn it off, but auto-select layer already performed the important part of what HLBs do without the added constant visual distraction. I discovered in Windows 11, if the Transparency Effects are turned off and then the Map or Book module is selected in LrC, then the Transparency Effects are turned on, dark mode is enabled on the pop-up menus.  The workaround may not work the first time, but "fudging" between modules and Windows transparency effects or mode (light to dark) seems to "kick" the LrC menus into dark mode. ... Welcome to the Photoshop Community & thanks for adding the System Info.  Great suggestions from @Ged_Traynor - Did you try those steps?    Does Photoshop get stuck after a series of steps or during an operation?   Looking at the system info, here are a few things you can try:   1 - Update the GPU drivers for the Nvidia GPU; they're from seven months ago and <6 months is recommended. Our Community Experts suggest using Studio drivers over Game-ready drivers. 2 - You have a set of plugins active. Try holding the Shift key when you launch Photoshop to skip loading any plugins and check the stability without any external plugins.    If excluding plugins helps, you can install each plugin manually and narrow down the specific plugin(s) causing issues.    Thanks! I'm still getting this too on my travel laptop (Mac Intel i7). It also freezes Photoshop when it pops up. When I click "update", nothing happens. I then have to force quit. At any rate, I don't expect Adobe is going to change this behavior. ... View more

Can you open other file formats than jpeg? (since you specifically mention jpeg).   Dual graphics is a known problem with laptops, which can cause a very wide range of issues. The very first thing you need to do is disable the Intel UHD 700 completely.   Uninstalling and reinstalling won't do much. The important thing is to go into your Windows user account and clear the Photoshop settings folder (aka resetting the preferences). This is the entire app configuration and deleting it returns the app to clean factory state. Corrupt preferences can cause inexplicable behavior that looks like application bugs. ... View more

Yes, this option was added to the Remove Tool at some point recently, not sure when.   It, er... removes the major gray area (sorry, no pun intended...), and pretty much solves this whole dilemma.
