Whilst  I can totally go this route - save a copy ---that adds additional steps to my work-flow which is really annoying.  I have to save a copy and then of course, I have to remove the word "copy" from my file name, which wouldn't be so bad in itself, but after I finalize my full res image, I like to make a smaller web sized graphic to go with it. I used to just have to hit "save as" again, and then add the "-web" extension to my filename that I use to differentiate full res & web graphics...now, even after I save the first Jpg, because it was only a copy, when I resize for the web, it's not re-sizing the copy, but going back to the raw file and I have to do the whole save a copy process again.   I realize that's it's just a few small extra steps, but that can really suck the joy out of editing, seriously.  I like to get into a groove with my editing, and this makes it so much more redundant.  They should at least have an option in the settings as to whether you want it to go this route or not...it already annoys me that they stopped letting me work on my saved photo as it is.    I have been using photoshop since version 3.....and now it feels like I am back to using version 3, only w/ bells and whistles this time.  ... Adobe made an incompatible change to Photoshop in 22.4. That brakes batch actions that use save as to save flat file from layer documents. The change also changes you editing work flow you have the adapt your work for to the change.  Adobe removed the feature they added to save as  years ago that enable Save As to save flat image file types from layer documents.   It  is back to the old days for those old action they need to flatten before save as can save can save flat image formats in Photoshop 22.4. The actions can back up in history to recover the layers they were forced to flatten.  If you are a fool and only use Photoshop 22.4  you can change the actions from Save As to Save a Copy... which is new in Photoshop 22.4  and can do what Save As could do in Prior Photoshop version save a flat image file format from a layered document.  You an not force to flatten then recover you layers. The action will not work in old Photoshop versions they do not have a Save a Copy the can use Save As in old Photoshop versions and don't have to flatten. ... View more

OK. Fool me once ... shame on Apple. Fool me twice ... shame on me. I researched the iMac Big Sur as much as my personal knowledge was capable of understanding, before I eventually purchasing one. But Caveat Emptor still bit me on the A#@$. I've lost the use of hundreds of dollars worth of pre-Big Sur s/w. I think Apple is play- ing a risky game of hardball with their customer base. But they're too big to fail, right? As I said, I won't be purchasing any future Apple computers. It appears I can't even get a 64-bit Photoshop Elements app for my Big Sur, to replace the one I had that ran perfectly fine on my old iMac! At least my old Win98 IBM desktop still runs OK, and is still Internet capable!!!! ... View more

Restart your computer after installation of 22.4 for the GPU detection issue to fully recover. If that doesn't work, please share System Info so we can further troubleshoot.   3D rendering is an unrelated issue, and for now there is a workaround documented here under the 3D section: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/known-issues.html   Specifically, we recommend using the Tech Preview option for overriding Photoshop’s native canvas mode to continue to use the 3D features. There is this History Log of steps I have made working on an image but when I save the file to PSD and then open it - it is lost. By @Playgame5EDE     Hi   Here's how it should work: Enable the History Log in Preferences. I chose "Both" and a location for the text file.   Create and save the image. Open the image. Look in File > File Info > Photoshop to see the Metadata (if you chose metadata or both). Use scroll bars.   Open the log file (if you chose Text File or both) with the name and location you gave it. I scrolled to the bottom here.   If you don't see the Log file in either place, then you can't get it retroactively. If your current PSD doesn't have it, then there is nothing you can do to this file to put it in. You might want to test the procedure with a small file to confirm it works.   Jane ... View more
