OK so I have used the Save for Web Legacy for exporting an image that is cut up with Slices from Grids for Instagram panos & grids by exporting a folder of jpgs.  It always worked fine.  The issue I'm having all of a sudden is that all of the images are exported as gifs except the last one which is exported as a jpg.  I tried mixing the gifs & jpgs and they don't line up perfectly?  I've tried selecting jpgs in the drop down, using jpg presets, I also reset my preferences, nothing works?  I also hae tried this in Photoshop 2024 & 2025.  Any suggestions?  Thanks for your help!   ... @EConklin    The reason that you were only seeing JPEG2000 was likely that you had a 16 BPC file.   Standard JPEG only supports a flattened image (no floating layers), 8 BPC, no alpha channels. If the current file doesn’t meet this criteria, then one has to Save a Copy, or enable Legacy Save As in your File Handling Preferences/Settings.   Although JPEG2000 is better than JPEG, it never gained widespread adoption and acceptance by various industry bodies and consumer software developers, which was the key to it's success or failure. ... I haven't experienced any real lag in Photoshop on my three Windows 11 systems under conditions similar to what is being described. I don't think the problem is necessarily Photoshop. The systems have varying hardware. One is an i7 9700k with 64GB of 3200MHz DDR4, a 1TB 970 Pro and a 6GB 1060. The second is a Threadripper 2950x with 128GB of 3200MHz DDR4, 2 1TB 970 Pros (scratch) and a 2TB Aorus (boot), and two RTX2080s. See Ged's post above.   The only way to free up one of your two activation slots is to deactivate one of the previous.   That was always the case, but the difference now is that Adobe will no longer reset activations if you have used up both and you can't access the old installation(s). ... Update:   I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the suite, but there must have been some file (that didn't get uninstalled/deleted) that remembered my settings/preferences, because Photoshop, Illustrator and AE were all pinned back in my Start menu as if nothing had happened. And as you might have gussed, I was still getting that activation limit message. I uninstalled the suite again using the option in Apps in my PC settings, then spent some time hunting down all Adobe files on my drive and manually getting rid of everything that hadn't been caught by the uninstall. After that I disconnected my ethernet connection, and only then reinstalled the suite. As soon as it was reinstalled, I opened up Kaspersky and blocked access to the internet for all Adobe apps/files etc. in my firewall settings. I then tried opening Photoshop, Illustrator and AE... and they worked just fine. No activation message. ... View more

Update 20250217 I ve now upgraded both the PC, SD card and the cardreader. Today it takes me 30-45 sec, to import 200 rawfiles. USB 3 is truly a lot faster and in combination with Sandisk Extreme PRO 200MB/s it works flawless. Renderingtimes in photoshop, lightroom classic and Topaz photo is down 90-95% compared to the old setup. Importing 200 pictures isnt a problem anymore. The AMD is stable and both the RAM, SSD and GPU is more than enough for my needs today and will hopfully last at least 5 more years.  ... View more

I just wanted to followup on my previous post regarding the remove tool working for me.  I have had mixed success with the remove tool.  After seeing the post about using presure sensitivity on the tool I will try making sure I've got that setting set to use pressure sensitivity.   I am really frustrated with the lack of support from Adobe on this seamingly insignificant problem that can be a massive inconvenience.   ... Were you definitely trying to import them as brushes (.abr) and not another type of preset (shape, gradient, pattern, style).   I hate actually installing presets, because you lose control of the process.  Much better to download the files and place them in the appropriate preset folder.  In fact I go a step further, and keep then in a (Windows) My Documents folder, and place a shortcut to that folder in the preset folder.  This keeps them safe from major update issues (we get a lot of posts fropm people who have lost the brush presets after an update) and makes it easier to share one set of presets between the Release and Beta versions.   https://helpx.adobe.com/nz/photoshop/kb/preference-file-names-locations-photoshop.html   ... While we do have controls to hide the New Layer option in menus, there is no way to customize which buttons appear in panels such as Layers. If you are missing these and resetting preferences (which may cause this sort of behavior through corruption) doesn't help, I'd guess you are on a controlled machine. You mention working with IT, so I'm guessing you are in a corporate, government, or educational environment. This feature may have been taken away at some higher level and, if that is the case, this may not be something we would be able to help you with from this end.  ... View more
