Enhancements inspired by your feedback
Preview Missing Fonts Without Installation
Collaborators can now embed fonts in the Illustrator files they share with you, allowing you to preview missing fonts without installing them. While you can view the text as intended, you’ll need to use a default or replacement font to edit it.
To embed fonts, your collaborator must save the file with Embed permitted fonts for file preview as Create PDF Compatible File may not embed all permitted fonts.
Check out this page for more details!
Note: • Update to Illustrator 29.3 to preview missing fonts. • Your collaborator must also update to Illustrator 29.3 to use Embed permitted fonts for file preview.
Measure the Area of Objects Using the Measure Tool
The Measure tool allows you to determine the area of selected objects on the canvas, including compound paths. You can also refine your measurement by excluding certain objects or overlapping segments from your selection, giving you greater precision and control. Check out this page for more details!

Thanks for all the details you’ve provided so far, @anderfoo. The product team reviewed your screen recordings, and based on their observations, the iPad is behaving as if it briefly enters text-editing mode but then exits it. They suggest ensuring that you’re single-tapping the keyboard icon rather than double-tapping, as tapping multiple times could cause it to exit text-editing mode.
I've attached a link to a reference video (IMG_3546_720p.mov) demonstrating expected behavior on an iPad with the Magic Keyboard, including cases where tapping too many times disrupts text input. If single-tapping still doesn’t work, the product team is open to troubleshooting further via a live debug session. Best,

Hi @dasom_Lee,
I understand how disruptive this issue can be, especially when working on detailed designs at high zoom levels. Since you’ve already tried multiple troubleshooting steps, including testing across three systems, we need to gather more details to help the product team identify the root cause.
I will log a bug with the product team, but I need the following information:
• MSInfo file from all three systems you’ve tested on (this helps us find common factors).
• Exact version number of Illustrator you’re currently using (the latest is 29.2.1).
• Screenshot of your color settings from the Edit menu.
• External monitor make & model and how are they connected? Is it connected via HDMI, type-c, DisplayPort, adapter, or dongle used?
Since this issue doesn’t occur in version 27.9, I recommend keeping that version installed for now while we investigate.
Let me know if you need guidance on exporting the MSInfo file.
We appreciate your patience as the team looks into this. Best,
Anshul Saini

Hi @Stephen35258043s9lb,
It sounds like you’re encountering a UI scaling issue in Illustrator. The app uses a script to draw the menu, and sometimes, display settings can cause dropdowns to behave unexpectedly. I suggest trying to adjust the scaling in your Windows display settings. You can reset it to the default or select a setting that suits your viewing preferences. Also, you can try resetting Illustrator preferences (https://adobe.ly/40Z3SHd) and see if that helps! Hopefully, that resolves the issue with the dropdown menus and Effects panel. Let me know if this helps or if the issue persists! Best,

Hi @Kendall909,
I understand how unexpected behavior like this can be frustrating! Could you confirm where your files are usually stored—locally on your Mac, a network drive, a server, or an external drive? Also, would you mind sharing the version of Illustrator and macOS you’re using?
To help us troubleshoot, could you try working in Safe Mode (with no other apps opened) and check if the random folders are still being created? This could help us identify if there’s something specific affecting the process.
Looking forward to your response! Best,

Hi @mathieu_7994,
Could you please let me know where you’re trying to save the file? Is it on your local desktop, a server, a network drive, or an external drive? Also, have you tried saving the file as a PDF with Preserve Illustrator editing capabilities, or have you tried saving it as a cloud document? This information can help narrow down the issue.
Looking forward to hearing from you! Best,

Hi @stitchsds,
Thanks for reporting this. The team has checked but hasn’t been able to reproduce the issue on an internal build of an upcoming version (not yet publicly available). However, since the duplication may depend on specific content or features in your file, could you share a sample .ai file where this occurs? That would help us investigate further.
Also, just to confirm—are you specifically selecting SVG 1.1 as the profile while exporting, or does the issue persist regardless of the profile used?
Looking forward to your response!

Hi @Lorelynn219941164iiw,
Thanks for updating Illustrator and testing the file again. Since the issue persists, could you try creating a new document in Illustrator 29.2.1 and recreating the same text box to see if the problem still occurs?
Additionally, if you have another older document where the text appears correctly in previous versions but changes in Illustrator 2025 or later, could you share that file? The one you shared earlier appears to work fine on my end, so another example might help pinpoint the issue.
Looking forward to your response!

Hi @MR.HAZEM_RAJAB8715,
The issue with the alignment list not appearing could be related to an incorrect installation or corrupted preferences. To resolve this, please try the following steps:
Steps to Fix:
1. Uninstall Illustrator: Ensure that preferences/settings are removed during uninstallation.
2. Reinstall Illustrator: Ensure you do not keep old preferences or settings when reinstalling.
3. Check Creative Cloud Desktop App Settings:
• Go to Preferences > Apps > Default Install Language.
• Confirm that the language is set to Arabic or Hebrew to enable support for Middle Eastern features. (https://adobe.ly/3WwYsAE)
Once these steps are completed, the alignment list should appear as expected. Let me know if you encounter any further issues!

Hi @Daverwob,
Let’s try to get to the bottom of this.
From your description, it sounds like the issue could be related to specific shape properties or tool behavior. However, without seeing the entire process, it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact cause.
• Could you please share a screen recording of the issue from scratch demonstrating the issue?
• Ensure that the entire workflow is visible, including how the measurements are applied and when they detach.
• If possible, avoid using a GIF format, as it may not show sufficient detail. A video or higher-quality recording would help.
•Share a sample file where the issue occurs. This will help us test it directly.
Once we have this information, I’ll check with the product team for any workaround solutions or suggestions to address the behavior.
Looking forward to your response!

I’ve shared your feedback with the product team and am currently awaiting their response. In the meantime, could you confirm if this issue is happening with this specific file or if it occurs with others as well?
Additionally, would it be possible for you to check if reverting to version 29.1 or 28.7.4 works as expected? It might help us narrow it down to whether this is related to the current version.

Hello everyone, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’ve tested this behavior and can confirm that the issue also occurs with high-resolution PSD files. While PSD files do get linked, they appear without a preview, unlike PSB or TIFF formats.
I also noticed that embedding the PSD, PSB & Tiff files works as a workaround, but it significantly increases the AI file size, which might not be ideal in many cases.
I’ve logged a bug for this and asked the respected teams if this is a limitation and what supported resolutions are acceptable in Illustrator. I’ll update you as soon as I have more information.

Hi @khalibauri,
I am able to replicate this behavior on my end with the Eyedropper tool, even after denying screen recording permissions. After checking with the product team, they’ve confirmed that Illustrator uses Apple’s screenshot API to pick colors. This allows it to capture a 1px pixel’s color within the app window itself or outside if permission is granted. Even if screen recording permissions are denied, Illustrator can still pick colors from within its window.
With the recent changes introduced by Apple in macOS Sequoia, new privacy and security notifications now appear when an app accesses screen content. This is why you see the “Adobe Illustrator 2025 is capturing your screen” message— this is an expected behavior. macOS notifies users whenever an app is accessing screen content, even if it’s just for picking the color of a single pixel. So, even though you’ve denied permission for Illustrator to pick a pixel color outside the app, it can still capture colors within the Illustrator window, and this notification will appear. There’s nothing to be concerned about.
Let me know if you need further clarification!
Best,
Anshul

Hi @Dean Rank
It sounds like you’ve made an important discovery! The issue seems to be related to macOS Sequoia’s permissions for third-party apps to access storage, which caused Illustrator to crash when the save dialogue was triggered. Once you approved Illustrator’s access to storage, the crashes stopped.
You’re right in identifying that navigating to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders and granting access to Adobe apps can prevent these issues. This allows the app to interact properly with external storage and should resolve the Finder crashes you’ve been encountering.
Thank you for sharing your findings! It could be helpful for others facing similar issues with macOS Sequoia. If anything else comes up or you need further assistance, feel free to reach out! Best,

Hi @schroef, I understand that AIRobin can be a bit overwhelming, especially with its impact on system resources. In the earlier years, Illustrator’s model wasn’t enabled for multi-thread access, so we were limited in what could be handled in the background. To overcome this, we created AIRobin, which helps by moving some tasks out of Illustrator, allowing for smoother performance while the app is running.
AIRobin operates as a full Illustrator process running in the background, enabling other functions and plugins to automate tasks on your machine. These processes are in place to help Illustrator work more efficiently, but I understand how frustrating it can be when it uses a lot of RAM. The goal is to improve Illustrator’s performance by offloading some tasks, but it requires a certain amount of resources.
I hope this clarifies! Best,
Anshul Saini

Hello @Shlomit Heymann,
I understand your concerns and appreciate the time you’ve taken to highlight this issue. I’m sorry for any confusion earlier, and I want to provide some clarification.
In the Middle Eastern version of Illustrator, the default paragraph style automatically uses the Middle Eastern composer (this is not a new change made in the recent version of Illustrator). By design:
• The Indents & Spacing section picks up the direction based on the text tool used and the composer itself.
• Therefore, the Paragraph Direction option does not appear explicitly under Paragraph Styles > Indents & Spacing.
If you’d like to set a Left-to-Right Paragraph Direction, here’s a workaround:
1. Avoid using the Right-to-Left Type Tool for that text.
2. Use the regular Type Tool and switch the composer to Adobe Single-line Composer or Adobe Every-line Composer in the Paragraph panel.
3. Create a new Paragraph Style. In this case, the Left-to-Right Paragraph Direction will apply and appear under General but not under Indents & Spacing—this is expected behavior.
I hope this clarifies things and helps you work effectively. If there’s anything else you’d like addressed, feel free to share!
Best,
Anshul Saini
