The Preflight tool is a bit baffling, so I just closed that up! But I did find that the plain old print dialog box in Acrobat Pro is a lot more sophisticated than the one for printing PDF's in Firefox or Edge. And I found some options that seem to give me what I need. Thanks for pointing this out.

Not weird. Your card is charged monthly - but you make a commitment for a year and can't cancel until the year is up. That's how phone subscription, internet and TV are all billed nowadays too. Even my new prescription eyeglasses follow that model.
There is a month-to-month subscription without the commitment, which is unsurprisingly a bit more expensive.
It's also possible to pay up in full for the whole year.

Thanks for your response. I'll have to sheepishly admit here that this was a case of "operator error", and that the plug-ins are now working. The plug-ins I installed need to be able to find a license server to authenticate and run. When I installed the plug-ins, I must have done an automatic "Don't Allow" to the prompt "Allow Adobe Acrobat to find devices on local networks?" As a result, the OS didn't allow the plug-ins to look over the network for a license. I should have twigged to this originally, as when I tried to launch the plugins themselves, Acrobat reported "There does not appear to be a network connection". It was only when I went to the Plug-in preferences to set the IP/FQDN of the license server that I Acrobat threw the bogus error message: "Out of Memory. Try to increase the amount of memory dedicated to this program," which got me going down a rabbit hole about memory allocation. Just uninstalling and re-installing the plug-ins didn't work, as Acrobat writes some cached information about the choice not to allow network connections, even if you run the official Acrobat Uninstaller, because on re-install I never got asked again to "Allow Adobe Acrobat to find devices on local networks" on reinstall. I eventually found and deleted the plug-in Preferences files, and then when I re-installed I was prompted to allow Acrobat to find local devices. Then everything worked as it was supposed to.

" It sounds incredibly frustrating that you're facing this persistent rounding issue with Acrobat DC Pro, especially when dealing with precise page sizes and bleeds. It's particularly concerning that even Adobe IT couldn't find a solution. " It's particularly concerning that even you can't find a solution and feel the need to respond with rubish. "You are correct, it does round up...which is a good thing" We know we're correct and NO, it's not a good thing. 3 decimals is not the same as 2 decimals. The measurement is off by .005". "If you set it up with document bleeds at 1/8" or .125" it will use those settings. Trust the system. " This is laughable. It doesn't use the settings inputted, it rounds to 2 decimals. .125" becomes .13"....Granny Smith and Honey Crisp are both apples but they're completely different. Imagine you're creating blueprints in architecture and every measurement is off by .005". Sounds silly when you require something precise, doesn't it? "there's no direct setting in Adobe Acrobat to change the display precision of page dimensions from two to three decimal places." There IS a direct setting. It's called MEASURE - MEASURING TOOL. You can set it up to 4 decimal places. It just glitches and doesn't translate to the actual document size. "Speaking from printing exprience, it does indeed bleed properly. " It's clear as rain, you're obviously not in the printing industry. Imagine if I order a T-shirt online and I choose a Medium but instead I get delivered a Small. When I complain to the online company that I paid for a Medium, they respond, "Yes. That's what we sent you". When I tell the company that the T-shirt label clearly says Small, they respond " Yes. That's the Medium. Trust the system." When I insist that I ordered a Medium, not a Small they respond, "This is likely for simplification and to avoid cluttering the interface with excessive sizes." THIS IS SAME ABSURDITIY THAT YOU'RE IMPLYING. The fact of the matter is that both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Design (note: Adobe products) don't round up and you can freely choose PRECISE measurements. In reality, if Adobe Acrobat PRO DC users are paying extra to edit documents, and the TOOL is available in MEASURE, it should work properly. End of story.

Thanks very much for your reply! Bookmarks would be a workable alternative if I wasn't trying to do too much to lower page count--at this point, adding bookmarks will simply cause confusion. You've helped me decide to give up the madness and accept more pages in exchange for a usable document.

Hi @noumenal,
Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble.
I tried reproducing this on my end but couldn't. Working with other applications or files with drag-and-drop isn't something Acrobat can control, and this should be mostly with the Mac OS.
Would you mind sharing some more info for better understanding:
1. The MacOS version you are on;
2. A Screen recording that shows the entire event (beginning from you dragging out tabs from Acrobat, then the rest of the apps/files not dragging, and also the Activity Monitor's memory tab) to understand if this is actually Acrobat or something else interfering with the OS.
Also, please make sure you are on the latest version of the application (2024.00520428) for the best experience.
To do so, go to Help Menu-> Check for Updates.
Regards, Souvik.

Thanks for your reply. But we are using password protection parameters that specifically allow inserting and deleting pages. After further investigations, some PDFs produce the error message and the crash, but most of our PDFs do not. All those PDFs are generated by InDesign, and then protected in Acrobat. They come from multiple MacBooks. We will let you know if we ever find anything the bad-behavioured PDFs have in common. For now we will be considering good or bad luck as our only explanation to this malfunction...

Hi @jameso32010578, Thank you for reaching out, and apologies for the delayed response. As you mentioned, the end user has a Creative Cloud All Apps license assigned via Federated ID and can access other apps, but Acrobat Pro is displaying an expiration message. Please try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Sign-in Verification
Ensure the user is signing in with the correct Federated ID (institutional email) and not a personal Adobe ID.
Have them sign out of the Creative Cloud Desktop app, restart the computer, and sign back in.
Clear Adobe Credentials
Open the Credential Manager on the user's computer and remove any Adobe-related credentials to clear cached authentication data.
Delete Licensing Cache
Navigate to C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe and delete the contents of the SLCache folder.
Go to C:/ProgramData (hidden folder)/Adobe and remove the contents of the SLStore folder.
Further Troubleshooting
Follow the steps outlined in this article to address any licensing issues: Adobe License Issues.
Since the error indicates an expired license, refer to this guide for resolving trial or license expiration messages: Resolve License Expired Errors.
Network Configuration
If the user is on a school network, ensure that the required Adobe endpoints are whitelisted: Adobe Network Endpoints.
Reinstallation Using the Adobe Cleaner Tool
If the issue persists, uninstall all Adobe applications using the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool, restart the computer, and reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop app: CC Cleaner Tool for Enterprise Users.
Hope this helps. Let me know if need further assistance.
Regards, ^AN

UXP Script (psjs) can import external files in CommonJS format.
// main.psjs
const { alert } = require('./external.js') ;
alert('hello') ; // external.js
const { app } = require('photoshop') ;
const alert = async (message) => {
await app.showAlert(message) ;
} ;
module.exports = {
alert
} ;
In UXP Plugin, you can develop a plugin without panel by specifying command in the entrypoints of manifest.json and not specifying panel.

@Amrit___ it's likely because you are using a 64 bit. I have a 32 bit, and I don't have that issue with both applications open among the other applications and streaming music or video in the background. Now for you, maybe you don't have enough RAM on your computer. If you frequently work with large files or complex projects, consider upgrading your RAM. I do have 36 gigs of RAM. If you don't have much RAM, then maybe try to make sure you have ample free disk space, as the operating system uses virtual memory (swap space) when physical RAM is exhausted. I regularly clear the Applications Preferences and cache can help with performance. I had recently did this and I had cleared out 17 gigs of Preferences cache! Just restart after doing that so that it can create new Acrobat Preferences.

@matt_9324 This could be due to several factors, including image formatting, page breaks, or even bugs within Word or Acrobat. To troubleshoot, first ensure that your image is positioned and anchored correctly within the Word document (if it's too close to the bottom, this is likely the issue—avoiding placement that might cause it to be cut off during conversion). Second, check your page setup and margins in Word to ensure the image fits within the printable area. Third, try updating both Word and Acrobat to their latest versions, as updates often include bug fixes and compatibility improvements.

@Thais E. Since you've already tried reinstalling and updating Acrobat without success, the issue might be related to corrupted user settings or a conflict with other software. Try creating a new test user profile on your computer to see if the problem persists there. If it doesn't, this indicates an issue with your main user profile's settings. If the problem occurs even with a new profile, try temporarily disabling any third-party plugins or extensions within Acrobat that might interfere with comment formatting. Also, I would delete Acrobat Preferences and restart Acrobat, it will create new Preferences for you. If you are doing this through the online tool, delete the history, cache and cookies as well.

@graceful_judge3437 It appears your company's security solution is interfering with Adobe Acrobat's Protected Mode, likely due to the security software's API hooking. While Acrobat doesn't have specific settings to manage API hooking, contact Security Software Vendor and ask if they have specific configurations or workarounds for Acrobat compatibility, such as excluding Acrobat from certain API hooks or providing a whitelist for DLLs. There is a reason why you want protection for the 'confidential' and 'secured' documents, because if you create exceptions within your security solution for Acrobat you could be compromising on security. I wonder if you could just use password protected PDFs instead? The passwords could change every 6 hours but that would take alot of work.

@kenji_8574 let's see if I am understanding your questions because it doesn't make much sense: Q: when i press shift for adding comment for straight line, i could not finsih the next point and it doesnt allow me to save, exit. Only close the entire software A: Although, you can add lines in Acrobat (typically, these tools are found in the Comment Panel) which is generally for commenting and markup. If you want to draw a straight line, hold the Shift key, then click and drag a line with the line tool.
Q: When i edit the image, all the image got brusted and the comment ran to other direction A: This might have to do with the PDF itself. Complex PDFs with embedded images and comments can be prone to rendering issues. I can edit simple stuff with images. But not with vector artwork, it's a little complex. Q: when try to flattener preview ( previously was in th epreflight), it suddently cut the half of the second page. A: On my end, it works fine. Your PDF's page dimensions might be causing conflicts with the flattener?

@SaintMichael64 I have been trying to understand this question, and maybe, I am thinking it's not as simple as I think it is... do you have a screenshot of what you are trying to explain this? My thinking is just add a 'text box' where you want people to enter their comments. Then format that text box to be a scrolling comment box for users to enter their message. But, maybe, I thinking this is what you want.
