Ai Web Nurture
1. New URL:
As part of Nurture, this month, we rolled out an important change for AI on the web. Dropping the preview tag, we are now available at https://illustrator.adobe.com. This marks an important step forward for Illustrator on the web.
2. New Home Experience:
Based on the usage and interactions of our users with Discover mode, we have built a new home screen experience. With separate workflows for signed-in and signed-out users and a focus on onboarding, this new home screen should better enable new users to succeed. We have also built a new dedicated section on the home screen to provide all user content access in one place.
3. Premium badges and nudge:
With this month's releases, we have also added badges to help users identify premium actions like share, save, and export that discover mode users don't have access to. On trying a premium feature, we show users a message with all they can access once subscribed to nudge them toward Ai entitlement.
4. Trigger Desktop Install:
We have already directed users to the Illustrator Desktop app, as a clear CTA is always visible in the application frame. This month, we also added support to trigger the desktop app installation if it's not already installed. The installation happens through the Creative Cloud app. If the CC app is also not installed, we trigger its installation first.
5. CSAT Survey from app:
We also added another layer to our data collection and assessment for Nurture this month in the form of a CSAT survey. This survey is triggered from within the app on pre-decided triggers to qualify users who have had some experience with the app.
Features & Performance
1. Text hover and selection:
We also released an important update for the hover experience with Text objects in Ai Web. Selection and editing for text objects was hard without the right hover feedback. This has been a long-term feedback from the design team internally and also from our users and should be fixed with our new implementation of hover with Text objects.
2. Accessibility:
Planning for and implementing the right controls for accessibility is critical in removing barriers enabling all users to engage and participate with our apps. It's a key requirement for modern apps. We have received feedback on how we could do better here, and with this release, we have made the app more accessible.
3. Direct selection: We have done a rehaul of the direct selection experience of AI on the Web with this month's release. The focus has been on making anchor selection and editing easier for our users.
4. File open performance: File open performance continues to be key for us. With this month's performance release, we have focused on improving file open times for users with slower machines and network connections. The changes are primarily around reducing initial application initialization time through delayed thread creation and some other improvements that become relevant for slow machines.
5. Automation framework improvements:
We continue to invest in our automation framework to take the load of an ever-increasing list of workflows, features, and platforms. With this month's release, we improved developer efficiency in dealing with flaky automation test cases that sometimes erroneously fail.
We would love to hear your feedback on the improvements made and try out the new features. Look forward to sharing more updates soon.
Thanks,
Harshika
