If you install something like Quickpic app, does it work? You might want to try the most recent SDK as well, there was a fix with a description "Cameraroll API doesn't work with Android Photos applications"

Yeah, I find it crazy with over a billion installs of Flash player and the billions of mobile devices that could have flash developed content that the pace is so slow. There is (still) a real opportunity here, why would you not invest in it? That is reach that many companies would drool over.

The only thing that ever gets fixed is "security and stability issues". Bugs on cameraroll are YEARS old and getting worse. Not having access to camera features on mobile platforms is ridiculous. I am getting a bit jaded on this topic, I feel like my creative cloud account is just being milked.

Camera roll api is a mess. I had some moderately successful apps on android that used it but now because of all the issues, they are dead. Bugs in there over a year with a ton of votes. This is a core api for a mobile device. Not sure who is driving the roadmap but all bugs I vote on are 'totrack' or 'unverified'.

Govinda, Will it hit a beta version of the SDK so we can test and provide feedback? I do appreciate the response given how old this is but I have a ton of poor comments and one of my apps has been severely down ranked in Google Play as a result which is translating to lost revenue. Any info you can provide on this is appreciated like which version / build number, which bugs are resolved and general availability would be nice (1 week, 1 month?). The AIR release notes leave much to be desired. Is the below fixed? It shows open and unverified currently... Bug#3655606 - CameraRoll.browseForImage does not work with any Remote Photo Albums

Got 5.0.1 on Nexus 7 and missing apps installed automatically. Also my HTC One GPe went straight to 5.0.1 so no issue there. Definitely 5.0.1 fixes it based on what I have seen.

I have registered my app to handle db files. I want to have the capability to import and export a SQL database. The export works ok and I can use open in to launch my app and I can see the content path (ex. file://...). If I try to do a copyToAsync it errors out and I think it is because of the sandboxing on iOS. How do I copy it in? Thx

@LogicOnTap Maybe it is just a fluke and I will retry but apps that I couldn't install on Play can be installed via side load. What happens when you try to side load, I think error 505 is a play error, is there a different error via the installer or does it just fail. Anyway, agree that if side loading isn't reliable then not an option, I had success when I tried but haven't tested enough.

I am hoping this does not require an Android OTA update vs Google Play app update. Reason I think it is just the app is that I can sideload an air app from Dropbox or via adb, its only the play store installs that seem to generate 505. A side load will persist the previous data. Might need to test more but may be if your app is free, its easier to communicate to users to side load than get adb going and messing with drivers and command line.

Patience? How many more YEARS do we need to be patient for? Is this API supported or not, if not then deprecate the API rather than acting like it will get fixes. At least that way we can look into other options. It is getting more and more critical, all existing apps with cameraroll api are impacted as there is more and more blending of local vs cloud images into a single photo view. A user will choose a photo and it will not load. There is no way besides a generic error message to let them know it failed. And then you need to explain the reason which makes users simply delete your app. Why not at least expose the the path or content URI so we can detect that and have a quick ANE that can load that?

Seeing same thing with my apps. Didn't notice it on my N5 likely because I did a factory image install instead of ota. Hopefully gets fixed soon, the Google Play edition devices will likely start getting ota shortly although some have been delayed and maybe this is the reason.

The latest version of Android 5.0 on Nexus devices do away with the 'gallery' app in favour of the 'photos' app. The problem is that users want to be able to select any image and not just ones local to device. The photos app actually blurs what is local vs cloud and you have to specifically navigate to 'on device'. I have a feeling the Nexus 6 might be a pretty successful device and since I have apps that use the cameraroll api, I am worried about getting complaints of non loading images because the current cameraroll api fails. Any one have a solution, an ANE? I had a custom ANE for intent pushed images to my app but not one for picking images. It would be awesome if cameraroll supported: - cloud images from photos or other - multiple image selection Does anyone know if the failed selection via cameraroll api provides the content path back? I might be able to do something if I get the content path.
