Subject: Planning CF21 to CF23 Migration in 2026 - Security & Support Concerns? Current Setup: ColdFusion 2021, Version 2021,0,02,328618 (Update 2) Planning to migrate to ColdFusion 2023 in 2026 Question: I'm aware that ColdFusion 2021 reaches end-of-life on November 10, 2025. I'm currently running CF21 Update 2 (from September 2021) and planning to migrate to CF23 sometime in 2026. My concerns: What are the security risks of running CF21 after November 10, 2025 with no more updates available? Should I at least update to CF21 Update 22 before the EOL date? Is it feasible/safe to wait until 2026 for the CF23 migration, or should I accelerate this timeline? Are there any compliance issues (PCI, HIPAA, etc.) with running an unsupported CF version? Any advice on the best path forward would be appreciated. Should I prioritize updating to the latest CF21 patch first, or should I fast-track the CF23 migration? Thanks in advance for your guidance!

I need to build an electronically signed PDF application to replace a Docusign type product that we currently use. We are using CF2021. Can anyone point me to where someone has done work on something like this, best pracrtices or any issues I should think about before proceeding? I posted this similar question 3 years ago. Ive been using POIUtility.cfc on cf8 and its worked flawlessly. Now we have switched to cf23 and I am getting this error Element CELL.CELL_TYPE_NUMERIC is undefined in LOCAL. We are using the exact same spreadsheet. worked fine in cf08 but now doesnt work cf23. Any ideas?

I have a server with hard to access error logs. I keep getting an error on a certain page. Is there a way for me to output the error to the page, instead of just seeing the generic 500 error message? 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

I have a form that submits to a database. Sometimes users inadvertanly click the submit button 2 or 3 times, resulting in 2 or 3 dupkicate submissions. I would like to stop users from being able to insert any record within 5 seconds of the last insert <cfquery datasource="#APPLICATION.ds#" name="get_max_ID"> SELECT MAX(insert_time) AS maxtime FROM FORMS </cfquery> When a form is submitted I need to check if it is within 5 seconds of the maxtime . If it is . I <cfabort> with an error message. If it is after 5 seconds I allow the insert. How do I do this check?

I have an application that periodically throws this error Error Executing Database Query.Communications link failure The last packet successfully received from the server was 878,178 milliseconds ago. The last packet sent successfully to the server was 18,954 milliseconds ago. The specific sequence of files included or processed is: ....... I think this is because the DB is on a different server. Is there any suggestions on how to fix this issue. The error occurs periodically. If the DB issue cant be fixed could I use cfcatch.cftry to keep trying until the connection doesnt fail? Maybe like this <cftry>

I have a CF process where I click a submit button. Then I need the process to wait/pause for 30 seconds and then run another check. If the check is no the process ends. If the check is yes then i need the process to wait for 10 more seconds and then run the checks again. What is a good way to do this to get the processes to wait the 30 seconds and then the 10 seconds?

I have a pdf file that downloads from a 3rd party vendor. The issue is that the file does not have the .pdf extension and to work with the file we need to add the .pdf each time. For example, a file downloads as abc but needs to renamed to abc.pdf How can I rename the file correctly with the .pdf extension right after it downloads?

We are having issues where CFTOKEN and CFID are being passed between our users. When one user clicks on these links their session switches to the sender of the URL. How can I prevent this? I was going to add something to the application.cfc like this. <cfif (CGI.QUERY_STRING) CONTAINS "CFTOKEN"> <cflocation url="Log User out and go to the login screen"> </cfif> But I am worried that users may legitimately have CFTOKEN and CFID in their working URLs and it would kick them out in that scenario. Though we have added cftoken="no" in all of our cflocation tags. What is the best way to deal with this issue where sessions sometimes (?) are changed when a URL with cftoken or cfid is in the URL.

I have a query where I am trying to get all records from a data table (TIMELOG) that have happened (EVENTTIME) in the past 7 days or less. The table name is TIMELOG and the field name is EVENTTIME. I want all records where EVENTTIME is in the past 7 days or less. SELECT * FROM TIMELOG WHERE #DateDiff("d",EVENTTIME,now())# < 7 I don't know why this doesn't work. I get this error message Variable EVENTTIME is undefined.

I have a partner that is going to pass a transactionid to me in the URL when a user clicks on an ad on their site. Like this www.mycompany.com/transactionid=12345abc8964 I need to postback variables to their site when a user converts. I have that part coded already using CFHTTP. My question what is the best way to detect that a user has entered my site with a transactionid and then be able to know that is the same user when they convert. Is it something like this? 1. Detect transactionid when user enter website in application.cfc 2. If a transactionid is detected - set a session variable like session.transactionid = yes or session.transactionid=12345abc8964 3. If user converts - check for the existence of transactionid session variable. 4. if transactionid session variable exists - postback info the partner site It almost seems too easy. So I'd thought I'd check with the ColdFusion geniuses.

So I am trying to convert my JSON into a cfquery object to use it in my application. Here is what my JSON looks like. Its a structure containing an array of structures. So now I have been able to get DeserializeJSON JSON data from a google API like this Let me know if a larger picture of this will help. From this code <cfhttp url="https://storage.googleapis.com/storage/v1/b/myabc/o?prefix=products/3D/"> <cfset cfData=DeserializeJSON(cfhttp.FileContent)> The products parameter changes and will yield different results I have never worked with JSON data before like this. Questions: What CF code can I write to determine if I have any records from the API? What CF code can I write to get a record count of the JSON results? What CF code can I write to extract certain fields from the JSON structure? For example, I need to get the all the results from the id fields in a list.

I have a site now where we use cfdirectory tag to query to get the directory contents. In the directories are images; like this image1.jpg image2.jpg image3.jpg Then we use this info to display these images on the page. Anywhere from one to 10 images in each directory. Now we are moving our images to Google Cloud and cannot use the cfdirectory the way we currently do. Has anyone used the Google API to query/list directories on the Google cloud and pushed the results back to a cf site? Once I can get that info from google I can figure how to output images. Anybody?
