I can't figure this out... Say I have a 1" wide x .5" tall text box, yellow fill, magenta lettering ("FPO" in this case...) and no border. I want to save this to re-use in my Library, but when I do, it only keeps the text. Is there a way to do this? thanks!

Hi - as noted, I'm on a Mac & using cmd-V (which I believe is the same as ctrl-v on PC) to past into the exact center of the artboard. I am not trying to paste into the same position from which I've copied/cut.

Hi jane-e... sure thing! Here you go. Vertical guide was aligned to page center: Top is original with text dragged to center on guide (by setting text to align center and using center point.) Middle is text cut, then pasted. Bottom is text converted to outlines, cut, and pasted. All were done after cmd-0. Not sure what's going on here...

Just noticed that text will not paste centered on the artboard... it pastes slightly to the left. (After cmd-0 to view full and centered artboard on Mac). Even stranger, this still happens even after the text has been converted to outlines.... Other objects seem to be working fine. Hmmm.... any ideas how to fix?

I have a bulleted list across columns and would like to control column breaks by keeping individual bullets together so that they don't break across columns. Keep options don't seem to have any effect... is there a way to do this?

Hi Jeffrey - funny you should mention... went back to check; Color Mode in Illustrator is RGB, Blend Space in ID is CMYK. Overlay doesn't work in CMYK, and there's no close substitute for the effect I'm going for (or, at least, I had to get something over to the client) so I saved as a TIF. I hate doing that Still trying to find a vector-based alternative to avoid the extra conversion/files, though. cheers

I have an Illustrator file in which I have grayscale shapes on a bottom layer and a yellow square set to Overlay on the top layer. Looks perfect. When brought into ID, in Typical display mode (as well as on the page thumbnails) the color appears correctly; however, when the Display Performance is set to High Quality Display, the image is clear, but the color disappears, leaving me with a grayscale image. It still appears accurate in the thumbnails for both Masters and Pages. It does not export to PDF properly. When the top layer in Illustrator is changed from Overlay to Normal, it functions properly. Any help appreciated.... deadlines, etc.

Hi Uwe, I suspect it's a bug, though it feels more like something needs to be "added" to the code rather than something "breaking". I created an image like yours; I couldn't figure out what it was using to judge how to crop a square image (bitmap) vs. a square vector of the same thing, as it was enlarging the bitmap by about 20% and anchoring it in the lower right.

Hi - Ok, I'm on 14.0.1 and I'm sure Content-Aware Fit came is as enabled by default, because it was on, and I didn't even know where to find it However, does this mean that the default preferences state of Content-Aware Fit changes fitting functionality for all files placed into that ID file? What happens if the preference is changed on a working file? It's a cool option but I'm not clear on what "permanent" effect it may have on a working file.

Hi Uwe - thanks for the note - Yes, I'm using 2019 now. Everything was left as default in regard to Content-Aware Fit, as far as I know. By the way - where can I find the settings for this? I just looked through prefs but didn't see it. (Would be great if there were a search field in Preferences!) I placed the Illustrator file without selecting a frame first.

I have just found that turning layer visibility on and off in a placed Illustrator file causes the remaining visible content to shift... This is not good. Using an object in Illustrator having no fill/outline does not work. Any way to fix / change this?

I don't know if it's related, but fonts chosen via Typekit are completely screwed up in ID... Working fine in Illustrator though. I cannot select a font that's been activated without using "find more", and even then, clicking on it only works once in a while.

Since updating, when in another program, cmd-tab no longer brings ID to the front. It still works with other software, including other Adobe CC programs.

Thanks guys- Well, that's disappointing. I understand that RAW is RAW, but Lightroom shouldn't automatically convert a preview without prompting. One of the reasons for wanting this is because my son (who just got this camera) is learning, and has been shooting fully manual, but in both color and "black and white"; without this reference, is there any reference in Lightroom as to which photos he intentionally shot in black and white? That said, I believe Apple's Photos does the same thing.

Hi all- Fairly new to Lightroom, so I am not sure what to search for this. (What I did search came up with 10 zillion unrelated posts ) Anyway, my son shot a bunch of "black and white" photos in RAW using a Nikon D5500. They import fine, and appear black and white - until viewed, then the preview reverts to showing the color information. Any way to keep the shots appearing black and white? thanks, Andrew

"But not for viewing or sorting images." Sorry, not sure what you're referring to... I understand how finder / explorer works. We have 3 cameras when we travel. "I want to view them by the time and date they were shot, Capture Time." Me too, which is why I'm trying to successfully update the EXIF data.
