Ronald,
Adobe doesn't do technical support by email. If you want technical
support for the free Reader application you have to pay for it. While I
am sure nearly every piece of software has problems. I don't think
Reader 9 is more problem some then its predecessors. At this site we
tend to get people with problems. That is why they come here. Most
people do not have problems.
The Windows Environment is quite varied in terms of software and
hardware. Windows doesn't completely separate its hardware from its
software. Nor is one piece of software always completely separate from
other software running at the same time. This makes it difficult to
write software that will run without issue on everyone's computer.
Fortunately, with painstaking methods it is usually possible to get
everyone up and running. It can be painful, but it is usually possible.
When all else fails, it is sometimes necessary to re-install the OS from
scratch, then install the problem some app (Reader in this case), and
then one by one add other programs, until we find the culprit. Sometimes
we are lucky and all the other applications install without issue.
At the moment you are running Reader 8.1.2 and it is working for you.
Perhaps that is for the best and you should leave Reader 9 until you
find you must have it or you find you have extra time on your hands.
