Sereniti, Hunt's response is right on ... I just checked and the same 4 "lock" icons on the top left of the layers window show in CS4 ( just like Hunt showed) ... I think I was having the same problem than you and it helped me. The person I work with locked the effect they used on the layer. Now I can edit the layer and lock back up again. I hope his answer helps you. cheers ~

I don't think that changing the language is currently allowed by Photoshop's licence. But I can understand the frustration of users, because with Bridge or Lightroom, one can change the language freely. With After Effects, one can have a localized version, and switch to English in the preferences to follow the countless tutorials in English, or use English-based expressions. I made a suggestion to allow more flexible language switching in Photoshop: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_allow_change_users_to_change_the_ui_language I strongly encourage any user wanting to change the language to go vote there.

Thanks for the update and details, Paul. Good luck advocating for this with the Photoshop developers! One more item to add to your arsenal of reasons for restoring the lost PDF Presentation functionality: the Bridge workaround appears to enforce final PDF output as RGB/8 images with limited compression options. With the old PDF Presentation, my bitmap (b/w) images would export as bitmap instead of undergoing a mode conversion first. I had access to a full range of compression types, including lossless, and my resulting bitmap PDFs would be small and emailable. To achieve a similar final result now, I need to save every page of the desired PDF individually as a PDF document out of Photoshop, then combine the pages into a single document in Acrobat Pro. If anybody else knows of a quicker way to do this, I'd appreciate hearing, because this is very time-consuming whereas the PDF Presentation tool made this operation very quick. Andy

There seem to be dozens of videos on the web telling me how great the new Refine Edge tool is, but I am yet to be able to extract an image using it. Every time I need to extract an image, I open up my old CS2 (argh!) and use my Bamboo to outline and extract it, then go back into what I was doing. What a waste of time. Does anyone know if there is a plug-in to do this the old way? The Refine Edge looks great when I watch someone do it in a video, but for an amateur like me, I am yet to be able to use the image I extract with it - they always look like crap, if I can even get to the point of outlining it properly. Maybe I'm missing something obvious here?!?!

GoRx wrote: Right-click on the Graphics card, select "Update Driver" This is generally not the best advice, as the process you describe loads the WHQL driver Microsoft has been provided with, which is usually well out of date. OpenGL implementations have been getting a lot of attention in recent driver updates, so it's usually better to get the driver directly from the web site of the maker of the video card. Failing that, getting a better video card is an option. -Noel

all the extra customization would have to be implemented by someone, you can't just wave a magic stick and have those features implemented. We aren't doing this stuff to make the forums more functional(well, except maybe the script that changes the forum width), we are doing this to make the forum look the way we want it to look. Just because the icons are blocked doesn't mean that the forum will load faster as those dinky icons have been long since cached, they aren't being loaded from the web

Adding the red flag is not a manual process. Either the system puts it there, or it doesn't. So far it doesn't. I tried rearranging the structure, but it still didn't.

Claudio posted on Feb 23 and no one replied. He posted "No comment? :(" on March 4. I answered with what I know... that I would be amazed if there was not a forum in Spanish. If I knew for sure I could say so but I don't so I didn't.
What I almost said is that I think there are folks in the experts group who speak Spanish and someone from that group might want to host in a Spanish forum. But I won't commit that anyone will be interested and didn't want to add that tease. I haven't even broached that subject with them and won't until I know what forums are available in what languages. But there is some hope there.
And that is all that I know.

Ozpeter,
Gosh I hope being a designer is not a criteria for being on the adobe Forums.
I use Adobe personally. I use it to convert Documents to PDF that I can upload to my website. And up until last summer my Electronics Association website. I Also use to make PDF forms or convert documents to fillable Forms for my own use.
But that does not make me a designer. That makes be a user of Acrobat or Acrobat pro since version 4.

I've got older versions of a lot of things, I've also got newer versions. Part of the reason is that I want to see things as an average user might, but in this case, and in that browser, I use a plug-in to Firefox for some of my other volunteer work, and that plug in hasn't been stabilized to work in ver 3. So I've avoided upgrading on that computer, and probably will until they tell us the plug-in is ready.

Keeping in mind that Adobe stops adding new camera support to older versions of Photoshop when they release a newer version (so in your case, Camera Raw 4.6 is the latest version that will work with Photoshop CS3), then you'll need to go look up whether your camera is supported in version 4.6. In general: 1. Look on one of the following two pages for the latest Camera Raw version update that works with your Photoshop version: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Macintosh 2. Follow the link to the highest-numbered Camera Raw update for your version of Photoshop. 3. Follow the link within that page to the ReadMe information for that version of Camera Raw. 4. Go to the section in your native language and look through the complete list of supported cameras to see if your model is there. If your camera model is not shown there, your options are: A. Buy a Photoshop upgrade to the latest version so you can open your raw files right into Photoshop. B. Use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your raw files to DNG format, which your version of Photoshop can open. C. Buy Photoshop Lightroom, which also provides a converter. Note that this will not be integrated with your older version of Photoshop. -Noel
