14.0.1.209 on Windows 10 is still riddled with performance bugs! One example I was struggling with before totally giving up on this release: Find/Change just slows down more and more as you go through a document clicking "Change/Find" to the extent that it takes up to a minute between changing and finding the next. Another: changing the name of a style in Para or Char Styles Palette by clicking the name twice then typing the new name starts working for a few characters then suddenly the name goes back to the old name and you're typing directly in the document! So the only way to change the name now is to "Edit" the options. And there are more that I can't even remember and now can't list because I'm now using the previous version. It is just unacceptable that beta products are released as "stable versions" with no "not to be used in production environment" disclaimer! Shame on Adobe!

I have created an alternative layouts document and done quite a lot of editing in the alternative layout. We no longer need both layouts, only the alternative layout I created. How to I keep the alternative layout and remove the primary layout? If I just delete the primary layout all the frames in the alternative layout come up as links missing. All I want now is a single layout document using the layout that was originally the alternative layout. How do I do this?

The latest update (14.0.1.209) hasn't fixed much (Windows 10), it is still *riddled* with performance bugs! Acrobat is up to date. I am running the most recent version. One thing which might point to the problem is that I often open Acrobat attachments in emails. With multiple attachments, while they usually open the first one OK subsequent ones sometimes will not open. So something could happening when I open a PDF attachment that prevents me opening any PDF file at some point later because the Acrobat file (the email attachment) is still open and running but hidden after it is closed. I use Outlook 365 for emails.

Thanks for having a look at this. I have installed the update and while it is a considerable improvement, there is still a problem when editing text. When double-clicking a frame to edit the text there is still a significant slow-down. As I've said before, the distinctive feature is when selecting a large block of text the cursor will suddenly freeze part way through the selection. There are other UI lags still happening such as when using shortcut keys and nothing happens straight away, or a lag when switching tools from the cursor tool. I am now using 14.0.1.209 on Windows 10. I am working on a local drive only and have tried logging in as a different user. I have tried working on other large files, but I am not about to create a new large file just to test it.

One suggested workaround has been turning off Control Panel. I can report this is not a fix. It worked fine for a while then the problem started again. Agreed the problem does seem to be in switching between pointer and text. The problem seems intermittent, like something suddenly kicks in and sucks all the juice out of InDesign. A distinctive feature is when selecting a large block of text the cursor will suddenly freeze part way through the selection. BTW how do I find out what release I have? Help>About just says 14.0, not 14.0.x.xxx

Indesign will be chugging along just fine while I'm placing content and editing text then suddenly it will slow to a crawl. Keyboard becomes really laggy. Dragging mouse to select text will stop partway through the drag. UI and tools become really laggy. It becomes virtually impossible to use. I have preflight and dynamic spelling off. I have display performance as typical and live screen drawing delayed. How can I find out what's sucking up all the juice? Any ideas what might be doing this? This is a 2.8GHz i7, 12 GB RAM, 8 GB Nvidia GTX960, should be enough.

One thing that will come up occasionally after about 10-15 minutes if I don't shut down the running apps in Task Manager is an error message: "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server". It also seems to be associated with at some point opening an Acrobat file that is attached to an email. For example I might open a PDF attachment then close it and carry on working. Later on when I try to open a PDF nothing happens. Then I go into task Manager and see various instances of Acrobat still running.

Thank you Shivam, The problem is not exactly that. Yes I checked your troubleshooting steps but they don't really apply. This is an intermittent problem making it harder to solve. I have done the repair and reinstalled but still a problem often enough to be very annoying. I don't want to have to keep going into task manager to close Acrobat instances.

Frequently when I try to open an Acrobat file in Windows 10 nothing happens. When all else fails I go into task manager, and notice several Acrobat documents already "open". I need to close all of these before Acrobat will open my PDF. This happens with a very high frequency and is very aggravating.

Hello Nayan, Yes I did click Apply then Close No special characters in workplace names. I don't think so in Snippets but there are a lot there Yes 2 machines but Automatic Sync is not enabled Automatic sync was not and is not enabled at all. thanks

I have now gone into ..\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2019\en_US\Configuration and checked all the folders. Some were updated, but some like Workspaces & Snippets weren't. I have just manually copied over the missing files. Prefs seemed to have updated OK. So not completely broken, and fixable. But really this could be better.

Dreamweaver 19.0 does not import previous settings from 18.2 which have been saved to the cloud. I agreed on opening to update from the cloud which it didn't do. Then I went to sync settings > manage and checked "Import sync settings" and restarted Dreamweaver. Under Sync settings it said updated settings are available, so I updated, and still nothing happened. I then uninstalled, including preferences, and reinstalled, just in case I missed something, and went through the whole process again! Still exactly the same. This is just frustrating and broken, just as it was in the last version. Why can't it just update from local settings like the other CC apps? Is there any way I can do this manually? Copy files over from App Data? I don't want to waste my time painstakingly remembering and setting prefs, workspaces, shortcuts, snippets from scratch! Come on Adobe!

I have many fonts which are listed in the font dropdown, but when I select them the font is not correct, eg decorative fonts show as just plain sans-serif. Fonts are installed using Extensis Suitcase Fusion. Windows.
