How do I add typographer's quotes in Animate? In Windows if I use the alt key it’s ineffective, Animate just types the alt code literally (eg 0146). There is obviously no glyphs panel. What are we supposed to do?

Thanks, yes. 1. Latest version installed 2. Did this, no noticeable difference 3. Couldn't see "Show me messages when I launch Acrobat" option under "Preferences>General" 4. Protected View was already disabled

Acrobat DC (I have the latest version in CC) is just way too slow. I have checked all the "fixes" - run a repair installation, uninstalled cleaned and reinstalled, and while marginally better and less prone to crash, it's still running too slowly. Windows 10 Pro v1803 build 17134.48 64bit Intel i7 2.8GHz 12MB RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 960

Thanks, I didn't realise this was still available in 2018. Sites only but that's the big one. I still can't get sync to work, but I have the sites now and have have slowly set all my prefs, shortcuts, workspaces manually from scratch in 2018. It would be good if everything could be manually imported given that sync is obviously so unreliable.

Yes that is what I did. This is precisely what happens: 1. Dreamweaver freezes for about 20 minutes, after I click "sync settings", with that little sync settings panel open at the top right. 2. the two blue arrows appear when DW eventually unfreezes, and remain there indefinitely. (btw, with Windows Defender rules in place I tried syncing again, but after that first "successful" attempt where it deleted all my settings, it has gone back to the two blue arrows being stuck for hours on end. I have checked back for the Win Defender rules I set and they are still there.)

It was the old one (2017). I realised I had a backup of AppData and restored the \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2017\en_US folder. I got my settings back but I don't want to lose them again. How do I get my 2017 settings to the cloud so they can be applied to 2018?

Thanks Nancy, I switched off Windows Defender and the sync finished for DW 2017. WD is supposed to let me know when the firewall blocks a new program, but it never did for DW - either version - why? I have now added "rules" to allow Dreamweaver 2017 & 2018. But when the sync finished it told me that "new settings are ready - apply" and when I applied I lost ALL my settings in 2017 as well! In prefs "conflict resolution" was set to "use local files". It doesn't seem possible to update the cloud with local settings!! What are we supposed to do? And how do I get my settings back??

Thanks. I have tried auto and manual syncing. It will NOT get my 2017 settings at all. And syncing is VERY SLOW. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. When I sync 2018 everything seems fine eventually. Sync completes, but nothing changes. My 2017 settings are not there. I have checked that my 2017 is in sync beforehand. So what is the workaround? How do I get my 2017 settings into 2018? Can I copy stuff from App Folders or something? With this DW sync settings issue and Indesign not updating prefs, and those who do manage to update prefs getting all sorts of bugs, this release has been a pig. I think Adobe needs to take more care before they release, as a customer I am sick of this suck it and see approach. Releasing betas on the customers seems to be the new norm since they have captured us in the subscription model and I am not happy.

Thanks, yes I had already read that. It appears to relate to the 13.00 release, are you saying that it hasn't been fixed in the 13.01 release? The notes seemed to indicate there was a fix around importing prefs. So now I'm stuck because I don't want to waste my time setting up my workspaces and keyboard shortcuts and settings all over from scratch, I would rather go back to my earlier version. But is seems like installing 2018 has messed that up. Frankly I'm hugely disappointed in Adobe for creating this clustermessup. If this is such a widespread problem and it hasn't been fixed, then I feel like we're being used as beta testers against our wishes. The difference being that Adobe actually listens to beta testers.

Well this is just unbelievable in this day and age. Adobe has no regard for the customer experience. I would rather go back to the previous version. I don't need this. But now I have discovered that my previous version has developed a problem since doing the upgrade. There seems to be some problem that occurs over time while I'm working on a document where ID starts using more and more resources until it becomes impossibly laggy and I need to restart. this has never happened before and has only started since I upgraded. Can an upgrade do this? (Windows 10) So Adobe - [expletive deleted]

When I install ID CC 2018 I cannot import my preferences from CC 2017 (which is still installed). When I installed I had "Import previous settings and preferences" CHECKED and "Remove old versions" UNCHECKED. But "previous settings and preferences" were NOT imported! I tried reinstalling a couple of times with the same result. Then I tried "Edit > Migrate Previous Local Settings" and it would not - I don't even have CS4! It is CC 2017 which is installed!!! Please HOW do I import my 2017 settings? I do NOT want to go through the painful process of recreating all my personalised workspaces, keyboard shortcuts and app settings. This is supposed to be a 21st century upgrade! What's going on??!!

I updated to DW 2018 and wanted to apply the settings from the previous version. The only way to that is by syncing with prefs from the old version. After installing nothing happened about initiating that process, so I started sync. Then a dialog came up (after about 10 min!) telling me there was data from a previous version, so I clicked the button to download that sync data. Nothing happened except the spinning blue circle for another 10 min, then the little blue sync arrows appeared on the sync icon at the top right. I waited over two hours and nothing changed. I closed and restarted DW and tried re-syncing. It froze and I needed to force quit. Tried again, and the same again. I signed out and signed back into CC and I uninstalled and reinstalled DW, and started all over again and the same thing happened again as described at the beginning. DW 2018 is broken.

I have done this and it still doesn't work. When I hit sync settings, either from preferences or from the top right hand corner DW freezes. I have left it for over half an hour and nothing happens, need to force quit.

I managed to figure out how to get all my settings back. They were all in AppData\Roaming\Adobe\ folders. Some like Illustrator & InDesign just added a en_US folder, because apparently when I reinstalled CC by CC's prompt it just overwrote the existing International English installation with a US installation. All I needed to do was rename the folders called en_US & change the existing folder name for en_GB to en_US. There was a bit of mucking around in other apps where folders were renamed with (modified) suffix, but the originals were retained. I'm not sure now if there are any consequences to now having "US" versions installed rather than "UK" or International English, because obviously UK is my preference. And the CC desktop app is set as "International English"

This is a wind-up right? I hope so. I do NOT want to reinstall everything, including all the plugins, and create all my personalised preferences all over again from scratch! I've already wasted hours, that will take many many more. All because of a failed install of Adobe Acrobat and following Adobe's own instructions to fix it! If the whole of CC is this untrustworthy it might be time to simplify my life and start using Affinity. I'm questioning whether wasting hundreds of dollars worth of my time on an unstable unrecoverable platform which I pay hundreds of dollars per year for the privilege of using is really tenable any more.

First Acrobat kept rolling back after a failed install. I followed Adobe's instructions (off topic) which broke Creative Cloud. Then I had to re-download and reinstall Creative Cloud which broke all my installed apps. I had to reinstall all my apps which broke all their settings and plugins. I will refrain from expressing my feelings about Adobe at the moment, even though I could do so very efficiently by using two very short words. After doing some digging I found in AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 21 Settings there are now 2 folders: en_US and en_GB (I haven't looked at other apps yet, I just need to get Illustrator fixed first) It seems my correct settings are in en_GB and this latest install has created a folder called en_US So what's going on? I updated by clicking on a link which was presented when CC broke. There were no options or language settings offered, it just went straight ahead and re-installed. So why did it replace a GB install with a US install? Why did it completely stuff everything up? How do I fix it?

I know JPEG is not ideal for printing, but when for whatever reason the printer requires a JPEG rather than a TIFF Photoshop is not making it easy. When I want the ease of exporting using the export dialog, the JPEG is ALWAYS converted to RGB. When "Convert to sRGB is unchecked. And I can't see any other RGB-like controls. What am I missing here?

Thanks for your reply David. I'm not sure what you mean by "turn sync-off and sync-on" Otherwise as I said before I do not want to disable Dropbox in any way. It is critical to my workflow. My only workaround at this point is to disable Creative Cloud and enable it when I need it. Which has started to become less frequent as I'm finding I can use Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo for more of my projects. But if Adobe fixes this I might be inclined to go back to using Creative Cloud apps again more often.
