Wouldn't hurt to try. Eliminating all possible culprits is a good approach.

What is Candelair? It may be conflict between the Wacom driver and another driver or utility.

We don't know of any specifics (other than we've seen iCopy cause this issue, and FinderPop cause others), but we do know this problem is system specific (i.e. not all customers are having this issue). Can you do a screen shot of your "System Preferences" dialog? Usually, they show up under "Other" in the bottom column.

Hirshmon and The Flash, your issue is not related to iCopy? Do you have any other system utilities/drivers installed?

A few ideas:
Adobe offers upgrade pricing for users who own a copy within 3 versions back (So currently, users of Photoshop CS2, CS3 or CS4 can upgrade to Photoshop CS5 for $199 vs $699 for the full version)
Student Pricing - Students get an amazing discount on Adobe software.
Subscription License - Great for people/businesses who only need software on a project basis.
Photoshop Elements is very powerful version of Photoshop for non-pros is available for only $99 (the Editor is available on its own from the Mac App Store for $79).
I do agree that the product/pricing structure for Suites is complicated. It's something I'd like to see simplified for our users.

That's not to say you can do some painting/sketching work on an iPad or Android device. Adobe Easel and Ideas are two apps you can use, but it's a create and transfer method, rather than using the device as a direct input device to control the computer running Photoshop for direct painting to a document.

Maybe in the future there will be a tablet to do this, but as Chris says, the current crop, including the iPad, won't replace a Cintiq in in terms of accuracy and functionality.

Doesn't hurt to try and get your feedback on what you like or don't like with it. There are lots of great third party tools out there. We may, or may not, be able to make something better natively. (A lot of our 'features' are actually built on our scripting SDK)

I just noticed some enterprising person has created a way to store slice data on a per layer basis:
http://www.electriciris.com/slicemast...
It may work to store the layers on and off with Layer Comps.

Peter and Garry - let us know what you think of the 3.5 update that Nichoson posted about. If you don't like the Help app, why don't you set the preference to open in you web browser instead? Is that a better experience in your opinion?

Right, but we should recognize this and offer to replace the contents. The workflow isn't obvious to the user. Their intent is modify and replace contents (they don't really care about the details that the file type needs to change)

Same problem with PNG. if you add a layer, File>Save... will pop a dialog. If you want to keep your layers you need to save it somewhere else and the contents aren't updated with the change.

4. make a change to the file (You must add a layer)
Then you'll see the problem that Edward is seeing. This is a long-standing workflow problem with creating a smart object from a non-layered file type and wanting to add layers.

If we did that we'd probably want to have the HEX value above the H: field so the tabbing order remained somewhat consistent and reads left to right like a book.

I think this is because you are placing a file type without layer support - like JPEG. The workaround is the save the file to a new location as a PSD after you've edited and choose Layer> Smart Objects>Replace Contents... and select the PSD you created to replace the JPEG file you originally placed.
I've made this a Feature Request. Hit the upvote at the top of the page to add your voice.
