I was having a similar problem as others. I tried everything including setting the affinity. Sometimes it would work for a while but the it would fail by just freezing. Then I was trying to edit with Microsoft Photos app, and the same thing started happening -- system freeze without warning. This suggested that the problem might be with the Nvidia display adapter. I have Nvidia GeForce GTX1080 ti., I opened Nvidia Control Panel, and under 3D settings, I selected Manage 3D settings. Scrolling down, I selected Threaded Optimization and turned it off. This affects threading just as setting affinity does. It appears that this has solved my problem.

The most reliable solution for me is just turning off G-sync straight up, but I do play games on the same computer I use Photoshop on, so always going to the control panel every time I play and use Photoshop to switch G-sync gets annoying. Fortunately, someone made a program to switch G-sync on and off more convenient: GsyncSwitch by kwizatz88 on GitHub. The program allows you to switch G-sync, as well as other monitor tech, directly from the System Tray.

Hi there! It looks like you’re commenting on an older post. Could I ask you to create a new post and include screenshots of the issue, your system info (Help > System Info), and any troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried? Here’s the link to get started: https://adobe.ly/4e2Fl7u

Perhaps try a thorough reset of Photoshop preferences?
(read this entire post before acting please)
Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes.
If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.
Here’s some info on how to do that:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html
Manually removing preferences files is the most complete method for restoring Photoshop to its default state:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Manually removing preferences files is the most complete method for restoring Photoshop to its default state. This method ensures all preferences and any user presets which may be causing a problem are not loaded.
Quit Photoshop.
Navigate to Photoshop's Preferences folder. macOS: Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings Windows: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings Note: The user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS. To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see How to access hidden user library files.
Drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe for a back-up of your settings
Open Photoshop. New preferences files will be created in their original location.
Note re macOS: The user Library folder is hidden by default.
To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see here for how to access hidden user library files.

Unexpected behaviour may indicate damaged preferences. Restoring preferences to their default settings is a good idea when trying to troubleshoot unexpected behaviours in Photoshop. check out the video

Learn how to access and modify Photoshop preferences and customise per your frequent workflows

And here’s an earlier forum discussion as an aid to understanding
https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/quick-tips-how-to-reset-photoshop-preferences/td-p/12502668
You may want to backup your settings and custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.
Here is general info about that: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#BackupPhotoshoppreferences
Before you reset your preferences
in case of future issues, I suggest you make a copy as Adobe may need one to check problematic references.
Quit Photoshop. Go to Photoshop's Preferences folder
Preferences file locations: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-names-locations-photoshop.html\
[on MacOS see: Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings Note for those on macOS: - be aware that the user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS.
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
In the Finder, open the “Go” menu whilst holding down the Option (Alt) key.
Library will now appear in the list - below the current user's “home” directory. ]
Now you can drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe as a back-up of your settings.
Note for those on macOS:
Preference preservation is affected by macOS permissions,
you’ll need to allow Photoshop ‘Full Disk Access’ in your Mac OS Preferences/Security and Privacy
If that doesn't fix the issue:
Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop.
Still hanging?
Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop.
Do you still have problems?
It may even be time to reinstall Photoshop.
It’s recommended that you use the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove all traces first.
(See above about preserving preferences though! It’s worth preserving them unless they are corrupted.)
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
Uninstall Photoshop BUT make sure to choose the option “Yes, remove app preference”.
Once that process finishes, start the installation process and look into the “Advanced Options”. Uncheck “Import previous settings and preferences” and choose to “Remove old versions”.
I hope this helps

Why is copy-paste, such a simple task, so difficult? This happens to me sporadically, and I'm currently having the issue with no easy workaround. Just keep getting the same error message: Could not complete the Paste command because the clipboard data is empty or invalid.

Go to Windows settings and check your file associations for the relevant file format. Normally a Photoshop smart object will have the .PSB extension. Make sure it's set to open int he correct Photoshop version.

I would like to see the option to add to an image the file name as part of the watermark options. I use Behance to post photos, and I would like to show the file name so if someone is interested in a photo, they can tell me the file name and I can work on it, or have it printed for them. LR keeps adding all these nice features, but I would like to see this one added, and it wouldn't be that hard to do. What are your thoughts?

So 2025 version of Photoshop is still not respecting the full specification of PNG with 8-bit tranparency. WORSE...2025 under Rosetta (on a Mac) doesn't support ANY "Export As.." options. The feature is broken. A very unsettling session with customer support that wanted to share computer access lead to a stream of "sudo" permission requests. DON'T upgrade to 2025 if you need the legacy export options. Export works in native mode on Macs...but the PNG issue remains.

"However, it can be a little confusing if, as in my case, the previous name - which was system generated - included the version number '13-4'" Agreed. Overall, I think the new design will be less confusing to most users, once we get through the transition period of the old naming system. Note that there is a new command File > Rename Catalog that makes it much easier to rename catalogs. I've got my own naming conventions, and it makes the upgrades much easier.

@JohanElzenga this is pretty much what you said back in 2018. When it's been 6 years and Adobe hasn't done anything to implement a basic feature, there's no need to put "yet" or "not at this time". You can pretty much replace it by "not ever will be". Not only is this quite a crucial feature that existed since very early versions of Lightroom, but it breaks the workflow if you start stackong on your computer and want to continue work on iPad

The year is 2024 and I still have the same problem... If I apply a Neural Filter and select the output as "Smart Filter", whenever I update the "Smart Object" to which the filter is applied, Photoshop becomes unresponsive for a long time and then returns this error "neural filters has exceeded the timeout limit" Photoshop 2024 stable and the latest Beta have the same problem!
