How are you publishing for your LMS? HTML5 or SWF. If there is a difference than perhaps it could work in SCORM Cloud but not the LMS in question and still be the fault of something in the project file. I've certainly encountered cases where the SWF works fine but the HTML5 doesn't. You said it was working fine with both preview and publish until you made some recent changes within the course. Perhaps if you kept some earlier versions of the project files without those changes you could test those. Barring having those, eliminating chunks of slides until you find the culprit might be your only option if you exhaust all the other possibilities. In either case best of luck. ... View more

I've learned that you can reasonably quickly troubleshoot Captivate issues if you hide or delete parts of your project file. For example, if you delete the first 50 percent of your slides and the course runs, you now know that the issue is in the first 50 percent of your project. Keep repeating this until you narrow it down to just one or two slides. I recently went through this issue to learn that my course wasn't loading because of something to do with my question pools. I had three question pools and each had rather long names with the underscore symbol used between words. Not knowing for sure what the problem was, I moved the questions from the pools to the main Filmstrip and deleted the existing question pools. I recreated the question pools but rather than renaming them, I left their default names. I moved my questions back into the question pool and the course now runs perfectly fine. ... View more

What a coincidence. I'm now reminded what you mean by dependencies. I'm working on a project where I decided to temporarily delete a slide of my course and I got the following warning. Perhaps you saw something similar: What this is referring to is that the slide that I wish to modify has dependencies. In other words somewhere else in my project I have referenced this slide elsewhere in my project and if I delete it, those actions (probably Jump to Slide 3) will no longer function or become broken if you will. That is all a dependency is a reference to another place within your project file. Hope that helps. ... View more

If you have an object that appears throughout the project it can be located by looking for the first instance of it's use. For example if you have a button that always takes you to the first page of the course located on page 2, 3, 4 and so on. The button is likely on page 2. Look at the Timing panel (Windows >> Timing). There you will see Display for: [Rest of Project]. Alternatively the object could also appear on the Master slide and therefore appears on every slide that uses the that Master Slide as it's base. You can look that the master slide by clicking Window >> Master Slide. In either case with the object selected you can look at the Properties Inspector panel and see many of the parameters that that object has set, including any actions. For Example a "Next" button might have an Action like "Go to Next Slide". Advanced Actions as the name suggests are more advanced in that they allow you run two more actions when the user interacts with your objects. Well that's more information that might help you troubleshoot this problem. Try performing a "save as..." sometimes a save as (in other words saving the project as an entirely new file) will clean up any junk in the old file. It's not much but worth trying as it has sometimes worked for me. If that doesn't work try deleting items that you created since yesterday one by one until it publishes correctly. Once it publishes correctly you should have a good idea of the item that is causing the problem. Delete that item and recreate. If you have an object that appears on all slides and yet you can only edit it on an early slide where that object first appears, it is likely that the object has been set to be visible for the rest of the project. I've done this for many of my projects. Here's how: Create three buttons on the slide(s) in question and and set the On Success action from the Actions tab on the Property Inspector for each those buttons to Open URL or File; For each one enter just the file name of each PDF file in the URL field; In the down arrow drop down menu select New; Once you publish the copy and paste your PDF files into the SCORM Package (or folder where the course will reside). It won't work during project previews but it will work with your published project once your complete.
