If you drag an image to the Library panel with the Move tool, it will be saved there as a Graphic. You can then drag them into another document. Note that while you can have several layers selected and drag them all to the library as one Graphic, when you drag them to another doc, they come in flattened.

The problem is you're viewing the image at 500%. In your screenshot, you can see the individual pixels, and selections are pixel-based. If you look at the selection in Quick Mask mode [press the Q key to toggle this], you can get a better idea of what the actual selection actually is. The marching ants are just the border between more or less than 50% selected. Try viewing your image at 100%.

If you're making the selection by clicking on the icon at the bottom of the Paths panel, try this instead: open the Panel menu for the Paths Panel, and select the "Make Selection. . ." option, In the dialog that opens, set the Feather to zero.

I'll find out soon enough; mine's installing on my work machine right now. According to this: Update apps to Adobe Creative Cloud 2015, if you open the Advanced Options, if you UN-check "Remove old versions", it will keep your old ones. That's what I did, but the Cloud app is still in the middle of updating all the pps, so we shall see when it's done.

My copy of 7.0 is an upgrade, and I don't have any pre-CC versions installed. Could I install 7.0 using my old serial number, or would I have to first install the latest non-upgrade version I have (4.0)? Or did they use disk keys back then? (It's been so long . . .)

I wonder how old your books can be to regiter them. Mine are way too old, and probably should be replaced anyway.

it is very hard to find facts under all the guesswork on the net.
now sometimes it is said adobe engineers are visiting this forum.... they should know right?
so can someone from adobe, who has the technical knowledge, answer this question?
That would be Chris Cox, who has posted in this thread.

Unfortunately for me, AMD's 10-bit drivers still don't work with Windows 10 screen grabs, which I need a lot more than viewing artificial ramps, so I will stay with 8-bit. Nice to see there is some progress, though.

NOTE: Make sure you don't have your work path selected when hitting the delete key, or you will lose it!
Best to save the path, so you can stroke it again later, if you decide you'd like a different brush.

Your Pen is set to produce a Shape, which has its appearance changed in the Option bar. What you need is an "Ordinary" path: Then, be sure the path is selected in the Paths panel, and you are stroking on a plain raster layer.

Another tool to try is the Median filter. It can help to rotate your image first, so that the dots got vertical and horizontal, and resize the image so that the spacing between the dots is on even pixel boundaries (since the Median filter can't be set to fractional pixel values). Note the values you use for these operations, and when you're done, use complementary value to restore your image to its original size and orientation.
