I hope you can get comfortable soon with LrClassic, there are far fewer technicalities to worry about once you get into a steady state, and relax into its flow.
One suggestion: the term "library" is a rather ambiguous one for discussing Lr Classic, since it can be hard to know whether a Catalog, or whether a set of folders and files on disk, are being referred to.
Analogy: it's like how, when a company refers to its "inventory" this might be (in one sense) talking about the actual goods its warehouse shelves currently hold; or else, in a different sense, it might be describing a clipboard and paperwork procedure in relation to what's on those shelves.
One is a business resource for the company, the other is an administrative process.
So "we've lost our inventory" might mean there has been a catastrophic warehouse fire and our paperwork will tell us what needs to be on the insurance claim; OR it might mean there's been an office fire, all records concerning our stock levels are lost, so we now have a lot of warehouse inspections and paperwork to re-do.
