No value, in my opinion, to place photos on the internal hard drive. Import them directly to an external drive and then do all work on your photos from the external drive. The difference in speed will be so slow you will never notice it. And this also eliminates the extra step of moving the photo to an external drive. Regarding the problem of the drive letters changing, this happens on Windows, but if you assign the drive a letter towards the end of the alphabet (like T U V W X Y Z) this won't happen any more.   I save the image folder to two external hard drives   Not clear what this means. There is no "save" capability in Lightroom Classic. Whatever it means, this is a poor practice. You want to make actual legitimate backups of your catalog file and all of your photos so you have at least two exact copies of everything. Lightroom Classic has a built-in catalog backup which runs automatically at whatever time interval you choose, that's how to make proper backups of the catalog file. Photos must be backed up by other means, the best choices are programs that make automatic backups at regular intervals. The poorest choice is for a human operator of the computer make backups, because most humans forget or get busy or get lazy and the backups don't happen.   Lastly, you are using Lightroom CLASSIC, not Lightroom. You have accidentally opened a blank catalog. You need to go to File->Open Recent and try opening each catalog in that list until you find the one that shows your photos. If that doesn't work, use your operating system's search feature to find all file(s) on all disk(s) that have a name that ends with .LRCAT and then open each one found until you find the catalog file you want. So what happens then when disk 2 gets full? You need to start disk 3- which is fine. But now I need an image from disk 1. I'm having issues where LR says it can't find the files on previous hard drives. So there is a lot of confusion out there regarding the names of Adobe software. You are using Lightroom Classic, but there is other software named Lightroom. The names are very similar, it is important to keep them separated in your mind.   When you use Lightroom Classic, you do want to upgrade the catalog. You cannot bypass the Import screen in Lightroom Classic. You would be better off dragging and dropping many photos at once, instead of one at a time. There's no need to "force" anything here, you just have to find out where the catalog file is. The catalog you are importing these files into can be on ANY drive you have available. Are you sure you created the catalog on the new SSD?   In addition, when you import files, they can be imported and stored on ANY drive you have available. You have to set the proper options in the Import dialog box to get them to import and remain on the new SSD. Nowhere does it say this is a perpetual license, and so the fact that many people call this a perpetual license is not any legal condition binding on Adobe, despite your claims above. In fact, in section 8.1, it is specifically stated that Adobe is not required to make the software "constantly available, uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free", and that the software is provided "AS-IS".    Quote from the License document   8. Thank you for confirming my belief that Lightroom has dropped the ability to bulk denoise files. I don't know why they don't vet this through even 10 users.
